The European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE) is a leading European network of regional energy agencies. We facilitate the development of interregional partnerships and projects, promote the regional dimension in debates on sustainable energy and the environment, and help regions develop their capacity to take action for the energy and climate transition. We offer a position with responsibility and focus on EU projects’ activities within a well-established European association (35 years), representing members from 25 European countries and active in one of the most strategic areas of current European politics.

Your main missions:

You will be in charge of the implementation of several EU-funded projects focusing on EU policy issues. You will as well be supporting FEDARENE’s policy and advocacy activities.

Main duties (but are not limited to)

General:

  • Roll-out of FEDARENE services to its members, notably the ones entailing policy advocacy activities, and maximise synergies with project portfolio
  • Implementation of FEDARENE’s tasks in EU projects, including the technical implementation with a focus on policy tasks, administrative, financial and logistical management, risk management, monitoring, reporting and communication with project partners
  • Representation of FEDARENE at public events (speaking, moderating, networking…)
  • Implementation of FEDARENE's policy advocacy strategy, including information of members on policy developments, consultation on policy priorities, active lobbying towards the EU institutions, content generation (recommendations, positions…)
  • Organisation of FEDARENE's multiple online/in-person events in different formats

Specific:

  • Organise a wide variety of events (online webinars, stakeholder workshops, EU conferences, consultations, focus groups…) from start to end (planning, implementation, reporting)
  • Coordinate the completion of project deliverables for efficient and on time delivery, as well as participation in / organisation of regular meetings with partners
  • Drafting of EU policy recommendations, amendments, consultation input, briefings, summaries and editorial content
  • Analysis of EU policy developments and legislative documents
  • Support the development and implementation of FEDARENE’s advocacy strategies

Minimum requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. communication, European studies, Political Sciences…)
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role including:
    • Experience in advocacy-related activities
    • Experience in the implementation of EU-funded projects
  • Previous experience related to energy communities and citizen energy would be an asset

Competencies required

  • Understanding of the legislation related to citizen energy including renewable energy communities and energy sharing
  • Knowledge of the EU institutions and legislative process
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Strong writing & verbal skills adapted to political and diplomatic communication; excellent drafting skills and capacity to summarise and structure input
  • Ability to understand technical issues and to translate them for a broader public understanding
  • Ability to develop and implement an EU communications strategy
  • Self-motivated, engaging attitude with a keen attention to detail.
  • Capacity to multi-task in a busy and pressurised working environment.
  • High-quality planning, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge on how to organise several types of events from start to end (retroplanning, implementation, reporting)
  • Capacity to take initiative on advocacy opportunities, creating partnerships and synergies with other stakeholders
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and French
  • other EU languages at a C1 minimum level would be an asset

Our offer

  • Full-time employment in our office in Brussels, Belgium (contract under the Belgian Law). Initial contract of 12 months.
  • Teleworking is possible several days a week, but you will be required to come to the office weekly. Full remote working is not possible.
