Are you an experienced editor with a special interest in EU politics? Do you commit to forward-looking journalism and being keen on exposing the dynamics of European decision-making? Euractiv is looking for an experienced English language news editor for editing and publishing news stories dealing with EU politics for the shift from 12:00 to 20:00. The editor is expected to be based in Brussels and should have experience in EU affairs.

We are looking to fill in the position as soon as possible.

The editor will have an opportunity to further develop their expertise of EU affairs in a dynamic newsroom, and in contact with journalists from across Europe, while giving their personal touch to Euractiv’s mission of bringing top notch EU news to Brussels and the national capitals.

Main responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and edit Euractiv’s coverage, from initial story ideas to the publication, with a particular focus on timely delivery;
  • Contribute to meeting Euractiv’s editorial mission and commitment to balanced reporting

Profile:

  • Experience in journalism, including at least one as copy/sub-editor;
  • good knowledge of EU policies, legislation, institutions;
  • native level of written and spoken English, any other EU language is an asset;
  • readiness to work in a dynamic international team in our busy newsroom;
  • ability to multi-task and deliver on time-critical assignments;
  • ability to work with different teams across borders, as part of Euractiv's network;
  • commitment to factual and linguistic accuracy, details.

What we offer:

This is a full-time employment contract under Belgian law (“contrat à durée indéterminée”), with salary and responsibilities commensurate to the candidate’s level of experience.
