Exploiting the latest advances in AI to fast-track the development of the Channel and its digital properties, while responding to new user patterns. Coming up with responsible, innovative solutions to improve our tools and products and sharing these improvements with other players in the sector. These are the challenges we are offering you, as part of a newly-created team, over the next years.
The team is expected to be part of a strategic ARTE initiative and will be made possible thanks to specific public funding. This support will enable the project to be implemented for a defined funding period, at the end of which the project will end.
As a Data Engineer / Data Architect, you will play a key role in integrating the specific needs of AI projects into ARTE's existing data infrastructure. You will develop and optimise high-performance data pipelines, ensuring their quality through robust governance strategies. Working with the data manager(s) and technical teams, you will collect, organise, analyse and make available the data required for AI use cases.

Your duties

  • Develop and optimise data pipelines to collect, transform and validate the data needed to train and evaluate AI models.
  • Ensure data quality and governance by implementing robust strategies to guarantee traceability, compliance and reliability.
  • Manage and optimise cloud infrastructure (Azure, Databricks) to process large volumes of data efficiently in a high-performance, scalable environment.
  • Collaborate with AI and business teams to understand AI use cases and provide ready-to-use data tailored to business models and needs.
  • Supervise the management of metadata within the existing data repository (DataCatalog), in partnership with the data managers.
  • Design data models and suggest innovations to improve the efficiency and performance of AI solutions.

Your strengths

  • You are familiar with cloud platforms (in particular Azure) and Databricks, as well as the tools required to manage high-performance, scalable data pipelines.
  • You understand the importance of data governance and know how to guarantee traceability, reliability and compliance.
  • With excellent communication skills, you are able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams (data, AI, business lines) to transform needs into concrete solutions.
  • Thanks to your analytical and pragmatic mindset, you are able to identify opportunities for innovation and recommend bespoke solutions for existing systems.
  • You are passionate about AI and its challenges and you are able to make the connection between data and the specific needs of AI models.

Your profile

  • Degree in computer science, data science or equivalent qualification with at least 5 years' professional experience in data engineering.
  • Good knowledge of French and/or German; fluency in English essential.
  • Proven experience with Azure Data services.
  • In-depth knowledge of Databricks and its ecosystem.
  • Practical experience of using Data Galaxy or similar metadata management systems.
  • Expertise in developing data pipelines and ETL processes in an Azure environment.
  • Experience in the media sector is a plus.
