Cepi is looking for a highly motivated Intern to join its Brussels-based team. The selected candidate will support the Environment & Safety team with the advocacy and organisation of Cepi’s dedicated expert groups.
Cepi is the European association representing the pulp & paper industry. We offer a wide range of renewable and recyclable wood-based fibre solutions to EU citizens: from packaging to textile, hygiene and tissue products, printing and graphic papers as well as speciality papers, but also bio-chemicals for food and pharmaceuticals, bio-composites and bioenergy. Key Responsibilities:
The Sustainability Intern is expected to support the Sustainability Director and their team with the projects:
- Following EU policies related to chemicals, product policy and industrial emissions, including the revision of REACH and the preparation for the Pulp and Paper BREF revision
- Support the Sustainability and Chemicals Manager in running the dedicated Cepi Issue groups on Chemicals and Industrial Emissions Directive.
- Help putting together an advocacy strategy on the aforementioned files
- Assists to form the overall Cepi Advocacy Strategy on Sustainability
- Attend meetings with EU stakeholders
- Prepare the Cepi Committee and Issue Group meetings
On top of the above-mentioned projects, s/he will support the day-to-day activities in the field of Environment & Safety, such as: Food contact materials, Environmental Footprinting, Bioeconomy Strategy and Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation.
Profile:
- A relevant university degree (or in the final stages of studies). A scientific background in subjects like chemistry or engineering considered an asset.
- A sound knowledge of and interest in the European institutions and of the EU decision-making process. First professional experience in EU policymaking via work in the EU institutions or trade associations, consultancies is considered an asset.
- An excellent analytical skill, and the ability to assimilate the various aspects of a complex issue rapidly.
- Focused, task-oriented and able to meet deadlines;
- Sociable, able to adapt and work flexibly in a small team.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. Other European languages an asset.
Commitment and Work permit:
- This is a full-time internship position with a duration of 1 year.
- The successful candidate must be available to commit to the entire duration of the internship.
- The applicant must have the legal authorisation to work in Belgium.
