About the Context
European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) is seeking a Regulatory Policy Advisor with a focus on retail investment and pension topics to strengthen its team.
EFAMA is the voice of the EUR 30 trillion European investment management industry. As a trade association, its role is to promote the interests of the membership and raise awareness of the importance of the services and solutions it provides.
About the Responsibilities
You will join our Retail Investments, Long-term Savings, and Sustainable Finance Team to support our existing senior colleagues on retail investment and pension matters.
More specifically, your responsibilities include monitoring, analysing, and engaging with regulatory issues related to investor products and distribution (such as the Retail Investment Strategy, Savings and Investment Accounts, MiFID, PRIIPs, and IDD). Additionally, you will work on pension topics (including the Pan-European Personal Pension Product and Occupational Retirement Provision).
Through our Pensions and Distribution Standing Committees, you will work closely with EFAMA members and industry representatives to identify priorities, develop robust industry positions and draft appropriate narratives.
You will build and maintain a network of trusted relationships within EU authorities and other public and private organisations. You will engage with EU policymakers and national regulators at various levels to represent the interests of the industry and contribute to informing the legislative debate, while participating in various conferences and events to actively promote EFAMA’s views. More specifically, your role will consist of:
- Monitoring EU and international regulatory developments likely to have a significant impact on the EU investment management industry, alerting members at an early stage, while also providing initial analyses of such developments;
- Maintaining the interest and engagement of a very active group of experts through timely and well-run meetings, and the ability to identify key topics/areas that necessitate action;
- Engaging in a constructive dialogue with policy-makers and regulators to represent the views of EFAMA’s members and promote sensible regulation and fair competition conditions for the industry, and participating in various events to actively promote the views of our industry;
- Building and maintaining a network of trusted relationships within EU authorities and other public and private organisations;
- Evaluating the results of EFAMA’s actions, reporting to members in a timely manner and drawing lessons for the future; and
About the Requirements
- Master’s university degree in Economics, Law, European studies, or other relevant area,
- A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant professional experience within the realm of financial services policy, either within another industry association, a consultancy, a corporate or other relevant type of organisation;
- An understanding of the EU’s policy-making process and/or of the investment management industry is a distinct advantage;
- Ability to quickly absorb and synthesise complex information;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Highly proactive, self-motivated, result-oriented, creative and enthusiastic;
- Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentational;
- Native/near native-level English speaker.
