Job advertisement
As German Member of the S&D Group in the European Parliament, I am looking for a full-time Parliamentary Assistant (APA) (m/f/d) to support my work in the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) to start as soon as possible in my Brussels office.
What can you expect from us?
I have been a Member of the European Parliament since 2022 for the SPD and representing Saxony and Thuringia. I am a full member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and the Subcommittee on Taxation (FISC), as well as a deputy member of the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) and the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs(ECON). I am also a member of the Bureau of the SPD Members of the European Parliament. You can find more information about me and my work at www.matthias-ecke.eu.
As part of a small, motivated team, you will support my work as a Member of the European Parliament. Your tasks will range from assisting in the preparation of legislation and preparing and following up on committee and working group meetings to drafting briefings or speeches, as well as comments and content for the media and social networks. Administrative tasks (general office organisation, appointment coordination, etc.) and maintaining a relevant professional network are also part of my staff’s tasks, as is regular communication with my team in the constituency.
The advertised position is aimed at people with experience in the field of industrial and innovation policy. Specifically, I work on issues relating to the digital economy and telecommunications. In addition, I follow developments in the semiconductor and automotive sectors in particular.
Remuneration as an APA is in accordance with the European Parliament’s Staff Regulations. Classification is based on experience and responsibility.
What do we expect from you?
You have successfully completed your studies and have relevant professional experience in the field of industrial and innovation policy (especially in the digital economy and telecommunications) and are willing to quickly and comprehensively familiarise yourself with new topics. You also have knowledge of European politics and the functioning of the EU institutions. You have excellent written and spoken German and are fluent in English. Additional languages are welcome.
You are characterised by a sense of responsibility, loyalty and careful handling of confidential information. You have organisational skills, initiative and flexibility, as well as the ability to work under time pressure. The ability to quickly grasp complex issues and translate them into easily understandable language is helpful in this regard. Joining an existing small team also requires team spirit and a willingness to work together to tackle the diverse tasks of everyday parliamentary life.
As an SPD Member of Parliament, I also expect familiarity with the ideas and identification with the values of social democracy.
Our team benefits from diverse perspectives and experiences. We therefore welcome applications from people from different backgrounds and origins.
