
Senior EU Policy advisor
The Senior EU Policy Advisor will lead the regulatory policy efforts of our EU Task Force (ie covering European Union only and excluding the UK) in Brussels.
Position overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Senior EU Policy Advisor to join our team. This a new role in our firm, and we are thrilled to open this position. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in monitoring and analysing EU legislative developments relevant to our clients. This role involves pro-actively building and growing a network around key priority policy areas. The ideal candidate will also draft internal and client-facing learning materials and contribute to the smooth functioning of our firm's EU law community.
Key Responsibilities:
Legislative and regulatory monitoring and analysis:

Keep abreast of EU legislative changes and developments that impact our clients.

Provide timely and insightful analysis of relevant EU policies and regulations.

Identify potential opportunities and risks for clients arising from legislative changes.
Network building:

Pro-actively build and grow a network around key EU policy topics.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including industry experts, and policymakers, and other relevant parties to stay informed and share insights.

Represent the firm at relevant industry events, conferences and meetings.
Information sharing and learning materials:

Competently draft insightful and informative internal and client-facing learning and other materials.

Ensure that the relevant materials are accurate, up-to-date, and tailored to the needs of our clients.

Develop and deliver presentations, briefings, and training sessions on EU policy developments.
Support the firm's EU Law community:

Contribute to the smooth functioning of the firm's EU law community.

Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and best practices.

Assist in the coordination and management of internal and external EU law related projects and initiatives.

Assist clients in navigating the complexities of EU legislation and compliance requirements.

Provide expert advice to clients on EU policy and regulatory matters.
Research and analysis:

Conduct in-depth research on specific EU policy issues as required.

Prepare detailed reports, policy briefs, and position papers.

Stay informed about broader geopolitical developments that may impact EU policy.
Strategic Planning:

Contribute to the development and implementation of the firm's knowledge strategy.

Support the firm's business development efforts by identifying potential new clients and markets.
Internal Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with the business development and knowledge functions to achieve the firm’s strategic goals.

Work closely with other departments within the firm to ensure a cohesive approach to EU policy matters.

Share insights and updates with colleagues to enhance the firm's overall knowledge base.

Participate in internal meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.

Key requirements
-
Master's degree or higher in law, international affairs, public affairs, political science, or equivalent

Solid proven experience (minimum 5 years) in regulatory affairs, lobbying, or a similar role.

Strong understanding of EU law and policy.

Thorough knowledge of the EU legislative process
-
Excellent analytical and research skills.
-
Proven ability to draft clear and concise reports and materials.
-
Strong networking and communication skills.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Proficiency in English; additional EU languages are a plus.
