The Joint Action ‘Capacity for Development (C4N)’ is an action area of the ‘Knowledge for Nutrition (K4N)’ programme. K4N aims to support the European Commission (EC), its partners, and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) with competence and knowledge to inform nutrition-related programs and policies with evidence-based approaches and strategies. C4N is financed jointly by the EC and Germany (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ.
C4N aims to strengthen capacities to enhance the knowledge base of the EC, European Union (EU) Delegations, EU Member States, and partner countries to advance the fight against all forms of malnutrition. BMZ and the European Commission have been longstanding supporters and partners of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement. Building on this, from January 2023, C4N initiated its support for the implementation of the SUN 3.0 strategy (C4N-SUN).
This aims to mobilize European support and expertise in policy development and capacity building for the effective and inclusive operationalization of the SUN 3.0 strategy. C4N SUN comprising of on-demand technical assistance and capacity development will be available to all SUN countries and focus on two main topics: Public Finance for Nutrition and Food Systems Transformation for Nutrition.
We are looking for a Junior Advisor (m/f/d) Capacity for nutrition for Scaling up Nutrition Movement (Food Systems Transformation) for our team in Brussels starting on June 1stth 2025.
YOUR TASKS
- Support the provision of strategic advice on the transformation of agri-food systems with a specific focus on nutrition to partners involved in C4N implementation;
- Support demand driven and needs based technical advice on transformation of food systems for nutrition to partner countries that are part of SUN Movement to support the implementation of SUN 3.0 strategy;
- Support the enforcement of close coordination with SUN Movement Secretariat and full coherence with the EU and BMZ policy frameworks
- Support the expansion of dialogue and cooperation with relevant global, regional and national actors as well as relevant UN organisations, research institutes, and non-governmental organisations.
- Support the monitoring, evaluation C4N-SUN for Food Systems Transformation
- Support of the C4N SUN/Advisory team in day-to-day business
YOUR KNOWLEDGES
- University degree in relevant fields, e. g. Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, international relations, development studies;
- First work experience in the field of food and nutrition security with a focus on nutrition;
- Excellent knowledge and use of IT and computer software, especially Excel required;
- A rigorous and thorough approach to work and ability to meet deadlines;
- Previous work experience in government and with different stakeholders is an asset;
- High level of teamwork, intercultural competence and diplomatic skills
- Experience of German and EU development cooperation is an asset;
- Mastery of language skills in English (C1);
- Good German and French language skills will be considered an asset.
WHAT WE OFFER
We offer a temporary contract until the end of 2025 with GIZ in Brussels under Belgian law (PC200). The position will be remunerated according to the level of experience. In addition to the legal holidays, you will receive 5 extra days of holiday per calendar year, as well as lunch checks, health insurance for hospitalization, the reimbursement of a monthly ticket for Brussels public transport and the possibility for home office in accordance with our respective policy.
