Europe’s Médialab is a “Think-And-Do Tank” for a healthy media sector in Europe, also ‘reconnu d’utilité publique. The MédiaLab - initially Fondation Euractiv - has the same founder as the media Euractiv (which has been sold to Mediahuis in 2023).
 
THINK:
Advocates for EU policies promoting media independence, sustainability and pluralism in Europe (see these OpEds, co-signed by its Founder, with other stakeholders). A recent one: advocating for a Democracy Commissioner (which is… under way!).
 
DO:
Train and exchange for media innovation: Stars4Media EU project (see current winners) + latest Stars4Media Day with 2 EU VP’s March and September 2024
Maison du MédiaLab: about tripling the Brussels correspondents from Eastern Europe
 
To strengthen, we seek a Partnership Director, with potential for even more.
 
Job description:
  • Develop high-level contacts and transform into consortium partners, donors, sponsors
  • Represent MédiaLab in Stars4Media consortium meetings and innovation programmes discussions
  • Assist in the development of new projects, based on the Stars4Media brand and the track record of MédiaLab,
  • Supervise MédiaLab’s own communication, notably leveraging Maison du MédiaLab: a unique programme to triple Eastern European correspondents in Brussels.
In time, take on increased management responsibilities.
 
Main tasks include:
  • Discuss the strategy, as part of top management, with the Board
  • Initiate & follow-up high-level contacts and networking
  • Collaborate closely with management, following detailed guidance
  • Developing customised proposals for potential donors and partners
  • Keep track of ongoing projects with key stakeholders, including donors & clients
  • Coach team members on effective time and resource management
 
Profile:
  • 10 years experience in project management, associations, or fund-raising or Media
  • Proven engagement in line with MédiaLab’s values and media ethics
  • Knowledge of the media sector, preferably with prior journalism experience, and/or EU policy in Brussels, ideally with NGO leadership experience.
  • Excellent organisational skills, pro-active communicator, diplomatic approach
  • Proficient in Google Suite, MS Office, and social media for communications and project management
  • Perfectly fluent in English (oral & written), good French, and preferably a Slavic language
  • Open to working as independent contractor (this is a long-term, nearly full-time activity, with scope for side activities)
  • Indispensable: Brussels location already for several years
