REScoop.eu is currently looking for a Policy Advisor to join its team in Brussels.

About REScoop.eu

REScoop.eu is the European federation of energy communities and represents over 2,500 energy communities and 2 million citizens across Europe.

REScoop.eu follows up on relevant policy issues, represents the voice of energy communities towards European policy and decision makers and promotes the cooperative energy business model. We support the start-up of new grassroots initiatives and provide services to our members. While our team represents a variety of different nationalities, our working language is English.

 Job opportunity

As a Policy Advisor, you will be integrated into our growing policy team and contribute to the core activities of our association including, legal research and analysis, EU representation and policy support. You will be charged with tasks related to project management and policy research including the analysis and assessment of both EU and national legal frameworks that are relevant in the context of energy communities.

The role of Policy Advisor involves a diverse range of responsibilities that are crucial for promoting citizen energy initiatives. Here’s a breakdown of some key aspects:

  1. Legislative analysis. Gathering and analysing relevant legislation will help inform REScoop.eu's policy work and ensure that advocacy efforts are grounded in current policies.

  2. Partnership engagement. Collaborating with various stakeholders within our wider network will enhance project outcomes and build a strong network for knowledge sharing and support.

  3. Representation. Acting as a representative for REScoop.eu means you'll have the opportunity to influence decision-making at both the EU and national levels, which is vital for the advancement of energy communities.

  4. Policy team contribution. Being part of our dynamic policy team will allow for collaborative brainstorming and strategy development, contributing to a cohesive advocacy effort.

  5. Project management. Overseeing European projects ensures that policy goals are met and results are effectively communicated, showcasing the impact of REScoop.eu’s work.

  6. Event participation. Presenting at high-level events is a chance to highlight our key successes and engage with a broader audience, which can help attract further support and collaboration.

  7. Transposition tracker. Continued updates of the REScoop.eu transposition tracker tool will be essential for monitoring how EU directives are transposed and implemented at the national level.

  8. Project proposal development. Contributing to new project proposals, particularly those within the field of EU policy, will be key in securing funding and resources for future endeavours.

 Your profile
  • Master's degree in Law, Political Science, Social Policy, European Studies, or a related field who can fall back on at least 3 years of relevant working experience in the field of policy and regulations.

  • Fluent in English (both in writing and speaking). Knowledge of another EU language is definitely an asset.

  • Sound knowledge of the energy system, EU policies, clean energy transition and energy consumer protection law. Any relevant country-specific knowledge or expertise in the field of energy communities is a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills for monitoring, assessing and summarising policies, legislation, and regulations and their impact on energy communities both at EU and national level.

  • Excellent communication skills for conveying (often) complex policy information clearly to various stakeholders, including high level policy makers, decision makers and grassroots initiatives.

  • Sound organisational skills, allowing you to work with others and deliver high quality output in collaboration with people from different backgrounds.
