Background

Becker Büttner Held (BBH) is Germany’s leading firm on energy and infrastructure law. Our core practice areas include energy law, media and copyright law, tax consultancy, auditing services, civil and business law, and public law. BBH is present at the EU level through its Brussels office and the BBH Policy Team.

 

In this capacity, we support clients with interest representation toward EU institutions and Brussels stakeholders. This includes policy analysis, assessing regulatory impacts on energy markets, public affairs, communication, and project development.

 

Our BBH Policy Team in Brussels is looking for an:

 

EU Public Affairs Intern

 

Job description

We seek a highly qualified and motivated candidate for a six-month paid internship in Brussels. Main client: European Renewable Energies Federation. Priority topics: decarbonization under the European Green Deal, Fit-for-55, and REPowerEU. The selected candidate will also lead social media work.

 

Main tasks:

  • Support advocacy at EU and national levels in the energy and climate sector
  • Research and prepare policy briefs
  • Monitor EU energy and climate policies and Member State implementation
  • Contribute to reports and studies
  • Organize and prepare meetings/events
  • Attend/report from official events (EP, Commission, etc.)
  • Implement EU projects (policy advice, communication, dissemination)
  • Screen EU/national funding opportunities, contribute to tenders/proposals
  • Lead social media campaigns (X, LinkedIn)

 

Requirements:

  • EU national/work permit holder (internship in Brussels)
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline
  • Proven experience in communications and social media
  • Strong understanding of EU policy-making and energy policies
  • Fluent in English (German a plus)
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Experience/internship at EU institutions is an advantage
