The organisation

The European Biodiesel Board (EBB) is a Brussels-based non-profit organization established in 1997, grouping the major European Union (EU) biodiesel producers. The EBB promotes the use of biodiesel in the EU, and participates in the elaboration of the EU energy, climate change, renewable energies, transport, agriculture policies, as well as any other policies relevant to the biodiesel industry. For more about EBB, click here.

Position offered

The EBB represents an industry at the heart of almost all hot-button issues discussed today. From climate change to international trade and energy to agriculture, if there is an issue you’ve been reading about, there’s a good chance that EBB is affected. Based in Brussels, Belgium, the EBB has a small but dynamic team looking for EU Policy Officer, eager to make an impact and keen to grow in a fastpaced and exciting environment, where EU Climate & Energy Policy is increasingly at the forefront of the EU legislative work. The EBB EU Policy Officer will monitor policy and regulatory developments impacting the EU biodiesel sector, contribute to shape EBB policy messages and to prepare and implement advocacy strategies, and represent EBB in a number of formal and informal stakeholder groups. Although working under the immediate supervision of Policy Director, you will be given a lot of autonomy and need drive, creativity, and flexibility as you take initiative to get things done. While EBB expects you to bring some years of experience in a similar position, this job offers you the chance to grow further and to gain expertise and responsibilities that would be hard to get elsewhere in the same amount of time. If you’ve read the above, and think you’ll be a good fit, keep reading for more information on your role and its requirements.

  • Strong interest in the energy transition to a low-carbon economy and tackling climate change. Knowledge of the EU Climate & Energy policy and the Fit for 55 Package in the field of transport. Specific knowledge of the Renewable Energy Directive and biofuels is an asset.
  • Flexibility, and the ability to work well both individually, as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent writing and proof-reading skills as well as communication and networking skills.
  • Fluent spoken and written English as this is the working language of EBB. Knowledge of additional EU languages is a plus.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Right to work in Belgium.
