McLarty's Europe office in Brussels supports clients on both sides of the Atlantic to navigate EU legislative, trade and regulatory developments, offering a unique window into policy- and decision-making processes and ability to solve client problems. We are a small and dynamic team driven to deliver tailor-made solutions and help our clients make informed business decisions, develop and implement strategies, and appropriately deploy resources – ensuring they always have the tools in hand to succeed.

Our Brussels office is looking for an experienced young professional in EU Affairs to join us as Associate for EU Government Relations & Regulatory Affairs starting in August 2024.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Navigating the institutional and political landscape post-EU elections with a focus on the EU's strategic agenda for the 2024-2029 term; 
  • Conducting research on European, transatlantic and international affairs, public policy, and business issues;
  • Providing tailored (policy) analysis, writing reports, briefing materials, stakeholder mappings and memos on various sectors and subjects with a strong focus on competitiveness, trade and climate policies;
  • Following policy debates in the European institutions and at Member States level;
  • Assisting in the coordination and organization of events and high-level delegation visits; 
  • Attending conferences, hearings, (client) meetings and seminars, as needed;
  • Supporting with the overall daily operations of the Brussels office; 
  • Other duties as assigned.

We are seeking individuals who are: 

  • Experienced young professionals with at least two years of relevant professional experience in EU or government institutions, trade associations, law firms or in the field of consulting;  
  • Passionate about European politics and regulatory affairs, transatlantic relations and geopolitics;  
  • Comfortable understanding the dynamics of the EU's legislative decision-making processes and procedures;
  • Excellent writers with strong analytical skills and a high proficiency in English (fluency in spoken and written English is an essential prerequisite; strongly preferred if additionally possess proficiency in other European languages, including French and/or German);
  • Experienced working in a fast-paced international environment and bring the ability to drive independent workstreams with attention to details;
  • Team oriented, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
