About EAPB

The European Association of Public Banks (EAPB) gathers member organisations (financial institutions, funding agencies, promotional and public banks, associations of public banks and banks with similar interests) from 17 European States, representing directly and indirectly the interests of over 90 financial institutions towards the EU and other European stakeholders. With a combined balance sheet total of about EUR 3,4 trillion and a market share of around 15%, EAPB members constitute an essential part of the European financial sector.

EAPB members include national and regional promotional banks, municipality funding agencies, and public commercial banks across Europe. They provide financial services and funding for projects that support sustainable economic and social development. Their activities range from funding companies and SMEs, export financing, and promoting a greener economy to financing social housing, healthcare, education, and public infrastructure at various levels. All EAPB members are state-owned at the local, regional, or national level and act in the public interest. They address financing needs underserved by the market, promote social and economic development, support the real economy, and bring concrete benefits to citizens.
