Bioenergy Europe is recruiting a Policy Officer to support its Policy Department.

Bioenergy Europe is a non-profit, international organisation based in Brussels, which operates at EU level and was founded in 1990. Bioenergy Europe primarily aims to expand the market for sustainable bioenergy and to guarantee favourable conditions for its members. Bioenergy Europe has a strong position in the bioenergy sector and unites over 40 national bioenergy associations and over 120 private companies.

Tasks:

The officer will work in Bioenergy Europe’s Policy Department focused on European legislation and policy including topics such as renewable energy, forestry, 2040 climate targets, carbon removals, heating, and other relevant areas. The Policy Officer will interact directly with member organizations and will work closely with the Communications Department to successfully advocate for the sector.

The officer’s duties involve:

·       Development of Bioenergy Europe's political positions on relevant policy topics. Research and analyse key policy files and their impact on the bioenergy industry.

·       Establishment and maintenance of professional networks with EU institutions and stakeholders

·       Creation and implementation of advocacy strategies to promote Bioenergy Europe's positions with EU decision-makers and stakeholders

·       Management of internal working groups and communication with Bioenergy Europe member organizations

·       Write joint policy positions, reports, consultation papers, op-eds and open letters;

·       External representation of Bioenergy Europe and its positions in workshops and conferences.

Competencies and skills:

·       Master’s degree or equivalent in EU law, political science, international relations, environmental science or other relevant field;

·       At least 2-3 years of relevant professional experience;

·       Previous experience in EU institutions and/or EU trade associations is a plus;

·       Knowledge of EU institutions and political processes;

·       Strong interest in EU climate and energy policies. Familiarity with the Fit-for-55 Package is a plus.

·       Excellent knowledge of English required, other EU languages are an asset

·       Excellent critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills

·       Strong work ethics, self-organization and autonomy

·       Ready to take on challenges and learn new skills, and showing the ability to work in a team, to build on other's efforts and complement them.
