GEODE, the European association representing local energy distribution system operators (DSOs) across Europe, is recruiting a Policy Trainee for its Brussels office. GEODE advocates for 1400 private and public energy companies in 14 European countries, serving over 100 million customers in both electricity and gas sectors. This position offers the chance to work in EU energy regulation, engaging with stakeholders and decision-makers, while expanding your professional network in a multicultural environment.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting GEODE’s advocacy efforts on electricity and gas distribution regulatory issues.
  • Assisting in meetings and events with European institutions and energy sector stakeholders.
  • Contributing to public consultations and advancing GEODE members' interests.
  • Collaborating with GEODE’s expert members in Working Groups and Task Forces.
  • Organizing internal and public events, webinars, and meetings.
  • Drafting publications and key messages on relevant topics.
  • Assisting with logistical coordination of internal and external events.
  • Participating in communication and dissemination activities.

 

Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in European affairs, political studies, or legal studies.
  • Knowledge of EU institutions and the legislative process; prior experience in European affairs is desirable.
  • Excellent command of English; knowledge of an additional EU language, especially German, is a plus.
  • Strong networking, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

 

Conditions:

  • A 6-month paid traineeship with potential for a 6-month extension.
  • Occasional travel outside Belgium may be required.
