Job description

 

Kellen has been managing for over 20 years EUROBAT, the Association of ‎European Automotive and Industrial Batteries and is currently looking for an Executive Director to lead the client. The position is based in the Kellen Brussels office.

EUROBAT represents the European manufacturers of all battery chemistries. Our mission is to ‎work with policy-makers, industry stakeholders and non-governmental organisations to help craft ‎a ‎positive and consistent regulatory framework for the battery industry in the EU and beyond. Our ‎vision is for an EU that achieves the goals of the Green Deal to become the first net zero continent ‎with the invaluable support of a competitive, sustainable and innovative European battery industry.‎

Your role:

  • Contributing to the definition of the association’s strategy and leading the association through the 2024 EU elections, the next EU ‎term and beyond.
  • Take the lead in acquiring new members according to the membership development ‎directives
  • Position the association as the voice of EU battery industry, both in the short and longer terms, and represent the interest of the membership towards all stakeholders
  • Promoting the battery industry -  comprising of all major chemistries - as a key industry in the context of Green Deal, while highlighting the need for a competitive industrial regulatory framework.
  • Proactively manage the strategies and regulatory programs on EU affairs and policy for EUROBAT; in the areas of battery legislation and positioning, thereby contributing to a comprehensible and favorable regulatory environment.

This position would also entail:

  • Being the main point of contact for the association’s President and Board, ensuring efficient communication to and alignment with the rest of the team.
  • Supporting and preparing the General Assembly and Board meetings
  • Representing EUROBAT in relevant EU legislative and regulatory discussions across fora
  • Speaking on behalf of EUROBAT at international conferences and events
  • Building and maintaining relationships – both at an EU/Brussels and key member states levels - with key stakeholders across institutions, industry, and societal interest representation.
  • Building the Secretariat’s team and managing the daily operations of the team in line with the association’s strategy and objectives.

You bring:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in a public and regulatory affairs in energy, environment, or health & safety
  • Excellent knowledge of the EU policy discussions around decarbonisation, cleantech, mobility and power systems. Knowledge of battery legislation is a plus
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Knowledge of the EU policy-making process and experience with trade associations in renewable energy, energy storage, metals or transportation
  • High level network across EU institutions
  • Self-starter and strong team player, quality and result oriented and willing to work in an international environment.
  • Fluent and professional English written & spoken, any other European language is a plus
