Events Assistant

Events Assistant
(paid internship based on a convention d’immersion professionnelle, i.e. CIP contract)
The European Environmental Bureau is the largest and most inclusive European network of environmental citizens’ groups – and the only one that works on such a broad range of issues. We advocate for progressive policies to create a better environment in the European Union and beyond.
We are seeking an Events Assistant to work closely with colleagues at all stages of the "event life cycle''. This is an exciting role as part of our Events team. The Events Assistant reports to the Senior Events Coordinator
This is a full-time position on a CIP contract, for which no relevant work experience is required.
The work consists of:
- Supporting the organisation and management of events on the days when they take place, including setting up registration desk, welcoming delegates, liaising with caterer through the day, coordinating with technician audio needs and presentations, overseeing event happenings and acting quickly to resolve problems, etc.
- Searching and visiting new potential venues and hotels. Help in negotiating and collecting offers for events.
- Helping preparing materials for working group meetings and events: badges, booklets, agendas, list of participants, etc.
- Assisting Policy Officers in setting up meeting room (coffee/tea/water/projector...etc.) upon request.
- Helping to keep the Events page online up to date.
- Following-up phone calls to key participants/speakers.
- Database management and supporting the transition to the new project management tool "The Force".
- Helping with the implementation of EEB's environmental and sustainability policy.
Qualities and experience:
- University degree or studies in event management, business administration, management or any other relevant studies an asset.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
- Ability to communicate in a multicultural environment.
- Capability to prioritise and work with several projects at the same time.
- Ability to take own initiatives in different situations.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills.
- Having a strong people-oriented approach.
- Prepared and able to work in a dynamic working environment.
- Interest in working in an environmental organisation.
- Good command of written and spoken English, with French knowledge being an asset.
- Subscribe to the EEB’s values.
The EEB offers:
- A 6-month contract - “convention d’immersion professionnelle” paid around €1300 net/month coupled with various benefits: transport costs reimbursement, luncheon vouchers, working from home indemnity.

Location: As our contracts fall under Belgian law, the candidate must commit to being officially registered in Belgium and working from our office in Brussels. This currently entails structural teleworking (possibility to work from home subject to our teleworking policy and organisational needs).
