About CLERENS

CLERENS is a Brussels-based consultancy specialised in public affairs, EU funding, and strategic communications. We work at the intersection of energy, environment, climate, and mobility—advising clients on how to turn policy challenges into funding opportunities and tangible innovation projects.

We help organisations unlock EU R&I funding through expert proposal writing, consortium building, and project execution. Our growing team supports clients from idea development to full project lifecycle management.

Position Summary

We are hiring a Proposal-Focused EU Project Manager to lead the development of competitive project applications and support high-level stakeholder engagement. A proven track record in EU proposal writing is essential, as is a strong interest in the energy and mobility sectors.

A key part of this role will also include managing a dedicated matchmaking platform designed to connect innovation actors and support consortium building for EU-funded projects. This includes technical oversight, user engagement, and facilitation of connections between stakeholders across Europe.

You will collaborate with clients, research organisations, companies, and institutions to shape ambitious projects that address major energy and climate goals.

Main Duties

  • Lead the writing and coordination of EU project proposals, with a focus on Horizon Europe, LIFE, CEF, Innovation Fund, and EIC.

  • Support strategic funding planning and proposal roadmapping for clients in energy and mobility fields.

  • Manage and grow a digital matchmaking platform, ensuring a dynamic and active community of project stakeholders.

  • Identify and onboard relevant platform users, stimulate exchanges, and support matchmaking between organisations.

  • Facilitate the building of robust, interdisciplinary consortia aligned with upcoming EU calls.

  • Manage project implementation post-grant award, including reporting and stakeholder coordination.

  • Oversee junior team members and collaborate across internal departments.

  • Contribute to outreach events, proposal webinars, and platform-related communication efforts.

Requirements and Competencies

  • 2–5 years of experience in writing successful EU funding proposals (especially Horizon Europe, LIFE, Innovation Fund, or CEF).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead proposals from concept to submission and engage with multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience or strong interest in energy systems, mobility solutions, and climate innovation.

  • Experience managing a digital platform, online community, or collaboration tool is a strong asset.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and project coordination skills.

  • Strong organisational and multitasking ability with an eye for detail.

  • Proficiency in English (C1+); other EU languages such as French or German are a plus.

  • Digital fluency: MS Office, online collaboration tools, and basic CMS/CRM experience.

We Offer

  • A leading role in shaping EU-funded innovation projects with a focus on real-world impact.

  • Opportunity to manage and scale a high-potential matchmaking platform connecting Europe's R&I ecosystem.

  • A supportive, collaborative, and international work environment.

  • Access to a high-level professional network and engagement with EU institutions.

  • Competitive salary package and flexible work conditions.

Please send a cover letter and CV (max. 1 page each – due to the expected high number of applications longer applications might not be taken into account) by email in English at jobs@clerens.eu writing “CLERENS project manager” in the subject line.
