APPLiAHome Appliance Europe is looking for a motivated individual with an interest in environmental and energy policy, to join its Energy team for a 6-months paid internship, with possibility to extend. 

Please note that candidates must be eligible for a Convention D’immersion Professionnelle (CIP).

APPLiA - Home Appliance Europe is the trade association representing home appliance manufacturers across Europe, with 25 direct members and 26 national associations. APPLiA advocates for the industry's commitment to promoting sustainable lifestyles by enhancing appliance performance while minimising environmental impact. The Association actively engages in areas such as sustainability, circular economy, energy efficiency, ecodesign, energy labelling, e-waste management, resource efficiency, chemicals, digital economy, trade, consumer protection, safety, and standardisation.

Position summary

The successful candidate will report to the Policy Director for Energy & Environment and play a proactive role in APPLiA’s energy team in policy tasks related to the EU Green Deal, Ecodesign for Sustainable Products, Circular Economy, Repair, Substances of Concern, Critical Raw Materials, Sustainable Plastics, WEEE, Packaging, and Green Claims. 

What you’ll do

  • Monitoring, intelligence gathering and analysis of documentation and legislative proposals related to the current EU environmental and energy policy agenda;
  • Assess the impact of regulatory and policy initiatives on the home appliance sector and support the draft of position papers; 
  • Coordinate internal member working groups - news alerts, preparation of emails, meeting agendas, minutes, presentations, documents and logistics;
  • Prepare briefing materials and presentations for stakeholders, regulators, member organisations and senior management;
  • Support in coordinating and mapping advocacy activities with national actors and other European industry sectors;
  • Arrange outreach and support in organising policy events;
  • Represent APPLiA’s team at external events/meetings, building up and maintaining a network of key contacts for the related energy & environment policy fields. 

 

 

Where you shine 

  • Relevant Bachelor or Master’s Degree. Specific studies in European affairs and/or environmental topics are an asset;
  • Excellent command of English (written and oral); knowledge of other European languages would be a strong advantage;
  • Project management and presentation skills;
  • Ability to  draft and edit engaging reports, briefings and position papers; 
  • High level of IT literacy including Google Docs, MS Office, Google presentations, spreadsheets, databases, web-meeting platforms; 
  • Data and information driven, with an ability to work autonomously and simultaneously on competing demands and deadlines; 
  • Capacity to work effectively in a cross-cultural and diverse stakeholder environment.
