McLarty's Europe office in Brussels supports clients on both sides of the Atlantic to navigate EU legislative, trade and regulatory developments, offering a unique window into policy- and decision- making processes and ability to solve client problems. We are a small and dynamic team driven to deliver tailor-made solutions and help our clients make informed business decisions, develop and implement strategies, and appropriately deploy resources – ensuring they always have the tools in hand to succeed.

Our Brussels office is looking for an experienced EU expert to join us as Director for EU Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs, starting as early as July 2024.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Navigating the institutional and political landscape pre- and post European elections with a focus on the EU’s strategic agenda for the 2024-2029 term;
  • Providing tailored policy analysis, writing reports, briefing materials and memos for our clients and partners on various sectors and subjects with a strong focus on sustainability;
  • Building a strong network in the EU institutions as well as with key Member States on transatlantic relations and key issues of strategic interest;
  • Creating fora for policy dialogue and debate to provide strategic foresight;
  • Contributing to provide strategic direction;
  • Organizing high-level delegation visits for our clients;
  • Engaging in policy debates, conferences and hearings on behalf of our clients;
  • Handling administrative tasks critical to the operations of the Brussels office.

We are seeking individuals who are:

  • Accomplished government relations and EU public affairs experts with five to eight years of relevant experience;
  • Familiar with the dynamics of the EU’s legislative decision-making processes and procedures;
  • Excellent writers with strong analytical skills and a high proficiency in English (fluency in spoken and written English is an essential prerequisite);
  • Strongly preferred if additionally possess proficiency in other European languages, including French and/or German;
  • Passionate about European politics and regulatory affairs, transatlantic relations and geopolitics;
  • Business diplomats with strong communication skills;
  • Attentive to details;
  • Team builders with the ability to adapt to new tasks, as needed;
  • Able to operate in a fast-paced work environment, maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
