AIJA, the International Association of Young Lawyers, is looking for a motivated communications trainee to join a dynamic and diverse team in Brussels. This role offers the opportunity to learn about all aspects of communications and events for a non-profit association operating globally.

Your role

Support all aspects of communications across the association, including marketing, production of newsletters, press and social media activities, eventually taking on tasks for a range of activities related to events as well.

We commit to providing hands-on training, monitoring and feedback throughout the traineeship. Reference letter will be provided upon request and successful completion of traineeship.

Traineeship duration: six months

Main responsibilities

1.     Marketing and communications

  • Help implement communications strategies based on outline or direction from supervisors
  • Assist in creating marketing materials
  • Assist in maintaining website and executing social media strategies
  • Support member and event communication efforts by delivering newsletters, e-alerts, save the dates, mailing templates, invites etc.
  • Distribution list management
  • Develop and update media lists
  • Media monitoring and research coverage opportunities
  • Reporting on communications campaigns, social media reach and engagement, Google Analytics etc.
  • Create editorial calendars for digital and social media, including website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram

2.     Events

  • Overall logistical support to ensure a smooth development, production and execution of the association events i.e. seminars, conferences, virtual events and the annual congress
  • Follow up on sponsorship confirmation and implementation
  • Manage the event webpages and information publication including programme updates
  • Assist with upcoming events planning (requests for proposals, etc.)
  • Set up and analyse the event feedback surveys and compile reports

Required qualifications

  • Fluent in English (native or equivalent proficiency)
  • Proficient in office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Skilled in design and communication tools (InDesign, Canva, Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey)
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to develop topics based on initial briefings
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a small, collaborative environment
  • Proactive and eager to learn, with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Desired qualifications

  • Previous internship or volunteering experience in marketing or communications is a plus
  • Familiarity with website content management systems is a plus
  • Experience in updating social media profiles and content

What we offer:

  • CIP (Convention d'Immersion Professionnelle) contract for 6 months with renumeration
  • Lunch vouchers
  • Working hours: Full-time (38h/week)
  • Traineeship based in Brussels
