Role Overview:
Energy Storage Europe is seeking a strategic and dynamic Head of Advocacy and Communication to lead our advocacy agenda and ensure our policy priorities are translated into clear, compelling messages that influence decision-makers and shape public debate.
This role bridges policy and communication, working closely with the Secretary General, Head of Policy and communications team to design and deliver integrated advocacy strategies that advance Energy Storage Europe’s mission at EU and national levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a cohesive advocacy strategy aligned with Energy Storage Europe’s communication and policy priorities.
- Identify with Head of Policy key policy topics requiring external outreach and engagement.
- Work closely with the Head of Policy to anticipate legislative developments and provide timely recommendations for action.
- Represent Energy Storage Europe’s in meetings with EU and national policymakers and stakeholders.
- Work with the Head of Policy to identify key policy issues requiring targeted outreach and develop narratives and campaigns that support these objectives.
- Translate complex policy positions into accessible, impactful messages for policymakers, media, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to building strategic alliances and coalitions with partner organisations, industry actors, and NGOs to strengthen advocacy efforts.
- With the CLERENS events team, oversee the development of the Energy Storage Global Conference program, and ensure the integration of Energy Storage Europe priorities into the conference framework.
- Oversee advocacy outputs, ensuring quality, consistency, and impact across publications, campaigns, events, and any other engagement.
- Monitor and assess advocacy effectiveness, providing insights to refine messaging and outreach strategies.
- Manage and mentor the advocacy team to foster collaboration between policy, communication.
Team Leadership:
The Head of Advocacy will oversee a team responsible for translating Energy Storage Europe’s policy positions into actionable advocacy initiatives, ensuring that messages reach relevant decision-makers and stakeholders effectively.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in advocacy, public affairs, policy, or strategic communication preferably within the energy or sustainability sector.
- Strong understanding of EU legislative processes and the broader policy environment.
- Proven ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences (policymakers, industry, media, and the public).
- Established network within the EU institutions and stakeholders (European Parliament, Commission, media, et cetera)
- Demonstrated experience in building and managing alliances or coalitions to advance shared policy goals.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful advocacy strategies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage a small, high-performing team.
