COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
GIE is the European association of infrastructure operators for renewable, low-carbon, and natural gases including hydrogen and biomethane, and also with an increasing focus on CCUS technologies. Our members provide solutions to foster the security of supply in Europe while enhancing the decarbonisation of Europe’s economy.
GIE works hand in hand with policymakers to design a well-functioning policy framework for citizens to benefit from a secure, efficient, and sustainable energy supply. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies, and industry representatives. Based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking, it has 70 members from 25 countries operating transmission pipelines, underground storage, and LNG terminals.
About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated Communications Officer to join our team on a full-time basis.

Your responsibilities
Working closely with the Communications Manager, you will contribute to a broad range of communications activities, including:
- Managing GIE’s social media channels and supporting communication campaigns;
- Drafting articles, press releases, newsletters and social media content;
- Creating visuals, infographics and other communication materials for digital and print publications;
- Managing and updating the website;
- Maintaining and developing the Association’s contacts database;
- Supporting the drafting of public statements and position papers;
- Assisting with the organsiation of meetings, workshops and events;
- Preparing briefing materials for public events and stakeholder
Your profile
- A Bachelor’s degree (a Master’s degree preferred) in Communications, Marketing, Social Sciences, or another relevant field with a communications focus;
- Proficient in written and spoken English, with strong writing and editing skills;
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience within communications, whether gained through an internship and/or a professional role;
- Experience managing social media channels and contributing to media or press communications;
- Experience creating visual content using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Affinity suite or similar tools preferred);
- A proactive, positive and collaborative mindset, with a willingness to learn new digital tools and communication techniques;
- Legal authorisation to work in
Minimum requirements:
- An interest in EU energy policy and the European policymaking process;
- Experience using WordPress or another Content Management System ;
- Experience with video-editing software;.
- Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel (knowledge of OneDrive and SharePoint is an advantage)
