Assignment period: 01.06.2026 – 30.09.2027
We seek a skilled Advisor to strengthen technical advisory capacity and EU-process engagement, aligning with the European Commission’s new agendas and the EU Global Gateway Initiative. The role supports BMZ in integrating sustainability agendas for sustainable agricultural supply chains into shifting EU priorities and dynamic EU discourse and enhances the linkage between the agricultural supply chains sector and Global Gateway. The advisor will help develop a narrative and strategy to connect agricultural supply chains to Global Gateway, explore related corridors and topics, and sustain collaboration with the EU and DG INTPA.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Global agricultural supply chains shape the lives of billions of people and have an impact on the environment, biodiversity and climate. The sector project “Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains” (SV NA+) promotes improvements in social, economic and environmental sustainability within global agricultural supply chains. It forms part of the ‘Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chain Initiative’ (SASI) cluster, which comprises four complementary agricultural supply chain projects. The SV NA+ focuses on selected agricultural products such as cocoa, coffee and palm oil, as well as issues including the fight against exploitative child labour, living incomes and wages, and forest and climate protection. On behalf of the global projects “Sustainability and Value Creation in Agricultural Supply Chains” and “Transforming Agricultural Supply Chains”, the project implements e.g. the German Retail Working Group on living wages and living incomes and the Due Diligence Fund. Furthermore, it manages the network of SASI stakeholders, advises the Federal German Ministry of Economic cooperation and Development and promotes both sector-specific and cross-sector multi-stakeholder partnerships and alliances. In doing so, it relies on a coordinated, strategic approach involving the relevant stakeholders from politics, the private sector and civil society.
