The European Marketing Confederation (EMC) is the umbrella organisation for marketing, sales and communication associations in Europe. Operating since the 1960s, the Brussels headquarter was established in 1993.

EMC aims to be the hub for marketing and sales professionals in Europe.

MISSION
The promotion and the development of marketing as the fundamental business process leading to economic growth and prosperity and the improvement of the competitive position of Europe's trade, industry and commerce.

* Protection of the members' interests to the European Institutions.
* Definition of standards for marketing education and training in Europe, with qualifications that are comparable and recognised across borders.
* Supporting the science and practice of sales, marketing and communi-cation.

THE SECRETARIAT ('EMC Office')
The role of the Secretariat, or EMC Office, in Brussels is to ensure that the voice of the marketing profession is heard in Europe, and to promote the function of marketing as a vital element in ensuring the competitiveness of business in the European and global area.

MEMBERS
EMC's membership covers most of the Western European countries and is extending towards the Central & Eastern European countries. Our members are national and regional business and marketing associations and confederations from: BE, CAT, CH, CZ, DE, DK, FI, FR, GR, IE, NL, PT, SE, RU, TR, UK and ZA. This network covers over 250,000 marketing, sales and communication professionals across Europe.

TEAM
EMC is run from the EMC Office in Brussels by a very small permanent team of specialists supported by external consultants and other volunteers from the member associations. Strategy and goals are proposed by our Management Board, elected for a three year period and consisting of nine experienced marketeers of the European arena, and the policy is approved by our General Assembly representing each of our member associations.
