BIBM is the European trade association of the precast concrete industry. Based in Brussels, it provides the first link between the European governing bodies and the industry.

BIBM:

  • acts as the spokesman of the industry for European subjects (public affairs);
  • promotes the image of precast concrete (public relations);
  • fosters common research and projects amongst the European industry;
  • creates and maintains a network between members.

In order to complete the technical branch, BIBM is currently looking for a “Sustainability and circularity junior officer”.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The responsibility of this position will include:

  • Analysis of current and upcoming legislation in the field of sustainability and circular economy in construction;
  • Development of the strategic positioning of the sector, based on the present political and social conditions and priorities;
  • Participation in European research projects in the field:
    • Identification of low-carbon solutions;
    • Transition towards circular economy in the precast concrete sector.
  • Participate in standardisation activities: reporting, positioning and advocacy;
  • Maintenance and improvement of the network inside the European precast industry;
  • Maintenance and improvement of the network in research facilities and academia.

Short travels in Europe (1-2 days/month) may occur.

PROFILE

We are looking for a motivated candidate with environmental/sustainability technical background wishing to develop advocacy and communication skills.

Required soft skills:

  • Open-minded, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with professionals in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Flexibility and ability to work autonomously on own initiative, and to cope with stress and deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills.

Required hard skills:

  • Solid environmental background, preferably in the construction sector (LCA analysis, circularity etc...)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – fluent spoken and written English is essential; any other European language is an asset.
  • Solid MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AI tools, Wordpress and Internet proficiency.

Additional hard skills

  • Knowledge of the European Union functioning
  • previous working experience in a related area (international or trade association, PR, sustainability…)
  • Knowledge of the construction sector and of precast concrete

OFFER

You will be joining a small team of two people, starting as soon as the recruiting process is finished (ideally in September 2025). A permanent full-time position under Belgian law (working permit is necessary for non-EU candidates) is offered; a consultancy contract is also possible.
