FEFANA – the European Union (EU) Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients and their Mixtures - is the united voice
of the specialty feed ingredients business in Europe. Our membership comprises manufacturers and traders of feed
additives, functional feed ingredients, premixes and other mixtures of specialty ingredients that enter the food chain
via feed. FEFANA facilitates the dialogue between EU institutions and feed business operators, whilst promoting
feed and food safety, a fair and competitive market, and a favourable environment for innovation and growth.
 
FEFANA is currently seeking a Regulatory Director
 
The successful candidate will join the FEFANA Secretariat team. He or she will be reporting directly to the Secretary
General.
 
The Regulatory Director will oversee all regulatory affairs for the organisation, ensuring all aspects of the
management of global regulatory operations and strategic planning. This role is responsible for leading a small
team of technical-regulatory staff and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to support the
organisation’s growth and strategic objectives. The Regulatory Director will serve as the key point of contact for
regulatory bodies, manage regulatory projects, and provide strategic advice to the Secretary General and senior
management.
 
Main responsibilities and tasks

Regulatory Strategy and Leadership

 Develop and implement the organisation’s regulatory strategy, including regulatory advocacy and
compliance with national and EU regulations.
 Provide expert guidance to the Secretary General and senior management on regulatory risks,
opportunities, and developments.
 Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory trends and changes, ensuring the organisation remains
competitive and ahead of compliance requirements at EU and national level at different EU Member
States.
 
Regulatory Operations
 
 Oversee the preparation and maintenance of regulatory projects for feed additives, premixtures, and
related products, including labelling, claims, and advertising.
 Lead the response to technical and regulatory enquiries, acting as the primary liaison with EU
stakeholders (predominantly Commission, EFSA and EUR-L), national authorities, and EU trade
associations of the feed chain.
 
Team Management
 
 Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of technical-regulatory staff, fostering a collaborative and
high-performing culture.
 Allocate resources effectively to ensure timely completion of regulatory projects and deliverables.
 Provide training and guidance to team members on regulatory best practices and updates.
External Representation
 Represent the organisation in industry associations, regulatory forums, and meetings with regulatory
authorities.
 Build and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, industry stakeholders, and external consultants.
 
Qualifications
 
Education and Experience
 
 Master’s degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Chemistry, Biotechnology or another
related field.
 At least 8-10 years of experience in regulatory affairs within the feed sector, preferably with a focus on
feed additives and premixtures.
 Proven experience managing regulatory submissions and compliance in multiple jurisdictions.
 Demonstrated people management and development capabilities.
 
Skills and Competencies
 
 Strong knowledge of EU and international regulations related to or applying to feed additive, premixtures
and compound feed and pet food.
 Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
 Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
 Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
 Proficiency in English (required); additional language skills, in particular French, Spanish and/or German,
are a plus.
