The Policy Advisor will be a key member of our newly established EU Task Force (ie covering European Union only and excluding the UK) in Brussels. 

Position overview

This new role involves monitoring and analyzing EU legislative developments, building networks, and drafting informative materials to support our lawyers in navigating the dynamic EU regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Legislative and regulatory monitoring and analysis:

  • Track and analyze EU legislative developments relevant to our lawyers and clients in specific areas of EU law.
  • Support the Senior EU Policy Advisor in providing timely and insightful analysis of relevant EU policies and regulations.

Network building

  • Proactively build and grow a network around key topics.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including industry experts and policymakers, to stay informed and share insights.   

Information sharing and learning materials

  • Draft internal and client-facing information and learning materials, ensuring the smooth functioning of the firm's EU law community.
  • Ensure that all materials are accurate, up to date and tailored to the needs of our clients.

Support the firm’s EU Law community

  • Contribute to the smooth functioning of the firm's EU law community.
  • Work closely with relevant lawyers to help clients anticipate regulatory changes and thrive in the EU law environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and best practices, supporting the Senior EU Policy Advisor in these efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with the business development and knowledge functions to achieve the firm’s strategic goals.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough research on EU legislative and regulatory changes and developments that impact our clients.
  • Build up own knowledge and experience in key topics

Key requirements

  • Degree or higher in law, international affairs, public affairs, political science, economics or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of working experience, preferably within an EU institution or the EU public affairs industry.
  • Strong understanding of EU law and policy.
  • Thorough knowledge of the EU legislative process.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Proven ability to draft clear and concise reports and materials.
  • Strong networking and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English; additional EU languages are a plus.
