About the Advocacy Function

The Advocacy team plays a crucial role in shaping and promoting policies that support the hydrogen industry. It fulfils policy development and lobbying responsibilities, engages with key stakeholders and keeps track of legislative and regulatory developments.

The team is dedicated to ensuring that hydrogen remains a central element in Europe’s transition to a sustainable and carbon-neutral future.

Main responsibilities:

  • Engage with EU institutions, industry partners, and other stakeholders to accelerate the European hydrogen industry
  • Track legislative and regulatory developments and coordinate updates internally
  • Coordinate activities of National Associations and regional members of Hydrogen Europe; organise quarterly meetings of these groups and assist in building outcomes into wider advocacy strategy
  • Help advocacy team build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and other relevant parties
  • Assist in preparing material for the Hydrogen Europe Advocacy Task Force
  • Communicate effectively both internally and externally to promote Hydrogen Europe’s objectives and align strategic priorities
  • Assist in planning and executing advocacy activities and events
  • Ad hoc support for the Advocacy Team and the wider organisation when needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) Degree in social sciences (e.g., EU studies, international relations), engineering, or other related energy topics
  • 3+ years work experience in European affairs and/or the energy sector. Experience in the hydrogen sector considered an advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of European energy and climate policies and the capability to understand technical subjects
  • Proven track record in European affairs, advocacy, and communication
  • Strong understanding of the workings of EU institutions and the EU legislative process.
  • Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders
  • Capability to work within and across teams while inspiring and facilitating action
  • Ability to respond to high volumes of work from various sources, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy, discretion
  • Strong time management and organisational skills and an eye for detail
  • An excellent command of spoken and written English, additional languages are a plus;
