The ICR Facility (www.icr-facility.eu) supports governments, public agencies and private sector representative bodies in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries to improve their business environment. The project works under three different areas: 

1. Demand-based assistance for business environment reform and Women´s Economic Empowerment (WEE)  

2. Capacity development for Development Finance Institutions 

3. Creation of knowledge sharing and learning  

The project is jointly funded by the European Union (EU), the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the British CouncilIt is implemented by a team of experts from GIZ, the British Council, Expertise France, and Stichting Nederlandse Ontwikkelingsorganisatie (Netherlands Development Organisation, SNV), primarily based in Brussels. 

We are looking for a curious, dynamic team player (m/f/d) with an eye for detail to support our communications and knowledge management efforts. You will be working with the technical experts to collect and document the immediate and long-term results of our interventions and share lessons learned with partners across the ACP region. 

YOUR TASKS 

The Junior Communications Specialist (m/f/d) will support the communication and visibility tasks of the Project Management Unit (PMU), including technical inputs to better inform stakeholders and partners about Business Environment Reform. The Junior Communications Specialist will work closely with all team members and particularly with GIZ staff of the PMU. 

In detail, the position includes the following tasks:  

  • Managing the communication and visibility (C&V) work of the Facility and supporting the implementation of the C&V strategy (Annex VI to the MPCA contract with the EC)
  • Assisting in steering contracts with external agencies (currently for web design and gragic design)
  • Running the project website, newsletter and social media presence of the Facility (currently active on LinkedIn and YouTube) by collecting and coordinating input from all team members  
  • Identifying and developing content for different communication channels, e.g. based on knowledge products developed and ongoing interventions 
  • Preparing presentations and information material 
  • Supporting documentation of success stories and lessons learned for selected interventions and edits selected knowledge products. 
  • Supporting the preparation of the Facility's annual public report. Support reporting to donors (both the European Commission and BMZ), in particular by ensuring comprehensive reporting on progress towards the indicators 
  • Assisting with planning, coordinating and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities with a focus on technical aspects 

YOUR KNOWLEDGES 

General qualification and skills 

  • University Degree in communications, political sciences, social sciences or economics, development studies or comparable courses of study 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; French and/or German would be a particular asset 

General professional experience 

  • Previous experience in communications and in the field of development cooperation is appreciated. 
  • Ability to use website building tools (e.g. Wordpress) and newsletter (e.g. Brevo) 
  • Ability to independently develop and implement social media campaigns to promote events and resources. Enjoy creative visual implementation and is interested in communicating results to various stakeholder groups  
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills and a good sense of political contexts and sensitivities 
  • Strong work organisation, ability to prioritize and focus in order to provide tailor-made services even under time pressure 
  • Strong communication skills with capabilities to engage external stakeholders 
  • Ability to handle the accompanying administrative workload for organising and coordinating different events  
  • Very good digital skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Sharepoint, TEAMS) 

WHAT WE OFFER 

We offer a temporary contract with GIZ in Brussels under Belgian law (PC200), starting on 01.05.2025 and ending on 31.09.2025 (with the possibility for an extension). The position will be remunerated according to the level of experience. In addition to the legal holidays, you will receive 5 extra days of holiday per calendar year, as well as lunch checks, health insurance for hospitalization, the reimbursement of a monthly ticket for Brussels public transport and the possibility for home office in accordance with our respective policy.
