About Hanbury Strategy

We turn insight into impact. Whether a client is facing a communications challenge or has a policy goal, our exceptional team uses our understanding of politics, public opinion and the press to create campaigns that work. We have a relentless focus on achieving great results for our clients.

The role

In our ninth year, Hanbury continues to focus on delivering client excellence and growing the business. We are looking to bring on board a driven Director to help grow our expanding Brussels client roster and service existing public affairs accounts.

This Director will have a good network among the Brussels institutions, to provide clients with sound engagement advice. Knowledge of financial services policy is an advantage, but you’ll have the ability to grow into new focus areas in line with the ever evolving political agenda. This is a senior role in our team (you’re likely to have seven years plus experience), just one level below Partner. As such, you have an entrepreneurial mindset and are interested in getting involved in business development.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Providing strategic advice to clients to progress their regulatory and policy agendas.
  • Leading a team of mid-level and junior colleagues, including coaching and training, delegation, motivation, feedback and development.
  • Actively networking and leveraging relationships with the European Commission, Parliament and Council. Engaging with (prospective) clients, helping to raise the profile of Hanbury in Brussels and beyond.
  • Drafting new business proposals and pitches.
  • Being a consistent champion of excellence, leading by example within your team and across the whole firm.
  • Taking time to invest in the culture of the business and celebrate team successes.

About you

  • An excellent communicator with good drafting skills.
  • Excited to be part of a dynamic, hard-working team, advising clients from a range of industries.
  • Comfortable and experienced in the Brussels political landscape. Experience in financial service regulation is considered an advantage but you’ll have the opportunity to grow into new focus areas in line with the ever evolving political agenda.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and are interested in getting involved in business development, motivated by the opportunity to help shape and grow our Brussels offer.
  • Unafraid to break new ground and find new ways to solve old problems.
  • Dedicated to producing high quality work and going the extra mile.
  • Happy working with people with a diverse range of backgrounds and opinions.
  • Be willing to do occasional business travel to London and other European capitals
  • Personable, respectful and a team player.

Benefits

  • 26 days’ paid leave plus bank holidays and time off over Christmas.
  • Normal working hours are 9am - 6pm.
  • Operate a hybrid working policy.
  • Group assurance (pension).
  • CCT90 bonus scheme.
  • Monizze Lunch Vouchers, Eco Vouchers and a monthly travel allowance.
  • Representation allowance of €200 per month.
  • Health insurance policy.
  • Work From Abroad policy for up to four weeks a year.
  • You will be based in Brussels, but asked to travel as necessary to London or other parts of Europe.
