Eurometaux (European Metals) is looking for a Sustainability Policy Intern, with an educational background in environmental, legal or European studies and a strong interest in the metals industry and EU raw materials, circular economy, sustainable finance policies.
About Eurometaux (European Metals)
Eurometaux (European Metals) is the industry association representing the full non-ferrous metals industry value chain and associated sectors in Europe. We aim to have a policy framework fit to enable the sector to thrive in Europe, while supporting the digital and energy transitions and contributing to the security and defence of Europe.
We work across four key policy areas, with dedicated committees: energy, sustainability, trade and chemicals management. The Sustainability Department leads the advocacy activities on the EU regulations focusing on raw materials (Critical Raw Materials Act, products (e.g., Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, Batteries Regulation), waste (e.g., Waste Shipments Regulation, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), environmental footprint and sustainable finance (EU Taxonomy).
Role and Responsibilities
As a Sustainability Policy Intern, you’ll support the Head of Sustainability and the Policy Officer in their policy and advocacy activities. You will contribute to:
- Develop policy research and advocacy strategies.
- Drafting of position papers, briefings, working documents, presentations and other working documents.
- Engagement with members, stakeholders and external partners.
- Organisation of committee meetings, workshops and other events.
- Daily operations of the Sustainability committee as required by the Head of department.
- Help with any other task deemed necessary.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master’s degree in environmental, legal or European studies, with a strong focus on environmental/circular economy policies.
- Strong interest (and/or short professional experience) in environmental/circular economy policies and sustainable finance
- At ease with organizational and coordination activities
- Excellent drafting, problem solving and analytical skills
- Highly proficient in English; any other languages is a plus
- A flexible, motivated and solution-oriented team player
- Eligible to work in Belgium.
