Help to deliver the EU Biotech Act and Biomanufacturing in 2026
EuropaBio, the voice of Europe’s dynamic biotech industry, is currently seeking a motivated Regulatory Affairs Industrial Biotechnology Intern to join its Brussels-based team for a period of 6-12 months. The role helps to lead the voice for industrial biotechnology across sectors, including sustainable industrial products and processes.
Industrial Biotech is one of Europe’s key strengths to transition towards a more sustainable, innovative and competitive future across multiple industrial sectors including food, feed, chemicals, plastics, fuels, textiles, cosmetics, and home care products, many of which have been traditionally sourced from fossil carbon.
The successful applicant will work from our offices on Avenue des Arts, in the heart of the EU district, working closely with industry experts and KOL within a small and dynamic multinational team under the supervision of the other team members.
This internship would provide valuable insights, contacts and experience for candidates interested in regulatory affairs, policy development, strategy implementation and advocacy in a fast-growing sector. It will involve the EU institutions (including regulatory agencies), and multiple relevant stakeholders, including industry organisations and NGOs.
This internship will allow direct involvement in priority work areas for EuropaBio Industrial Biotechnology including the Biotech Act. This internship offers the opportunity to work within a priority ‘critical’ sector for Europe competitiveness, prosperity and resilience.
The role includes:
- Help monitor and map regulatory developments and activities at EU level and internationally (EFSA, UK FSA, etc.) on various topics including genetically modified organisms and novel foods;
- Assist in researching and drafting industrial biotech policy documents and public consultations;
- Support with stakeholder mapping and engagement;
- Assist with preparation of events, as relevant;
- Assist with meeting organisation including preparation for working group and Council meetings and assist with the drafting of minutes;
- Attend events/webinars and prepare briefing notes to summarise these for the Industrial Biotech team;
- Help with the preparation of internal and external communications materials and correspondence for the Industrial Biotech team.
Profile:
- Must have full permission to work in Belgium;
- Must NOT have already completed an “Immersion professionnelle” or have already undertaken full time professional employment;
- Graduated in EU affairs and/or political sciences, law or other area relevant to Industrial Biotechnology;
- Must have an interest in biotechnology, sustainability, resource efficiency and the bioeconomy;
- Should possess a good understanding of the European regulatory process;
- Must have a high level of both written and spoken English (office language);
- Must have strong drafting skills and attention to detail;
- Should be a good team player but also capable of working independently;
- Must be able to present work in a clear and concise manner;
- Should be capable to produce work of a high standard, to use initiative and to regularly report on progress
- Ability to begin internship in February/March 2026

You will be offered a paid professional integration agreement (immersion professionelle).
Working hours are from 09:00 until 18:00 Monday – Friday with a one-hour break for lunch.
The intern will be entitled to 6 days holiday (RTT), national bank holidays, as well as days off for the year-end holidays (where applicable).
Salary is 1100€ gross/month.
