POLICY ADVISOR

1. INTRODUCTION
The ESN Group in the European Parliament is looking for a Policy Advisor to support its work in the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET).

The ESN Group in the European Parliament is committed to defending Europe’s identity, culture, and independence. The group advocates maintaining a common market, fosters entrepreneurship, strives to reduce bureaucracy, and firmly opposes the creation of a European unitary state.
2. JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be advising and assisting the Group’s MEPs in the AFET/SEDE Committees by the following non exhaustive list of activities:
· Analysing legislative proposals, resolutions, and reports relevant to the committee’s work.
· Providing draft briefing notes, amendments, speaking points, and voting recommendations.
· Ensuring that the group’s positions are reflected in committee negotiations and plenary votes.
· Advising the MEPs on the political implications of policy options.
· Other position-related tasks.
3. CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION
Proven experience at EU level (e.g., EU institutions, diplomatic service, think tanks, NGOs).
Academic background in International Relations, Political Science, European Studies, or a related field.
Excellent written and spoken English required; other EU languages are an asset.
Excellent knowledge of Bulgarian language would be a strong advantage.
Strong understanding of EU foreign policy issues and international dynamics.
Excellent knowledge of EU institutions, their decision-making processes, and external relations instruments.
Ability to work under pressure in a multicultural political environment with tight deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs.
Under article 82, (3) of the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants (CEOS) of the European Communities, candidates must:
· be citizen of an EU Member State unless an exception is authorised by the authority referred to in article 6 (1);
· enjoy full rights as citizen;
· have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service;
· meet the character requirements for the duties involved.
