MedTech Europe, the European trade association representing the medical technology industries, from diagnosis to cure, is currently looking for a Manager Communications. The ideal candidate will be a wellrounded EU communications expert and excellent communicator with a passion for telling effective stories and narratives around healthcare and technology, towards EU institutions and stakeholders.
The Manager Communications will take a leading role in driving the communication objectives and delivering projects that fit the vision and goals of the medical technology sector. The Manager Communications will be responsible for owning MedTech Europe’s media engagement alongside the Director Communications, bringing strategic and operational communication excellence in advancing the value promotion and policy objectives of the sector. You will join a friendly and highly motivated Communications team, which is a strong partner of the different technical and policy experts in the organisation. Each member of the team enjoys the opportunity to work
autonomously and run distinct projects. You will take part in high-quality communication activities for one of the top trade associations in Brussels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own MedTech Europe’s media engagement and relations (in support of the Director Communications), including media monitoring, analysis, and impact measurement (e.g., share of voice, sentiment).
- Design and lead communication strategies for MedTech Europe’s EU policy and advocacy activities, translating complex technical and scientific content into clear narratives, statements, visuals, and social media assets for general and specialist audiences.
- Lead content strategy and production for MedTech Europe’s flagship events (MedTech Forum, CEO Summit, HETHICO, Value Based Procurement Conference), working with digital and event teams to develop engaging pre-, during-, and post-event content across newsletters, social media, and digital campaigns.
- Plan and execute content calendars, campaigns, and formats that turn policy topics into accessible, engaging digital content.
- Work closely with thematic departments to align communications output with their business and advocacy objectives.
- Support strategies and action plans to engage the organisation and its members around EU legislative proposals and policies.
- Profile the medtech sector’s reputation through targeted initiatives, partnering with member networks on joint projects.
- Support crisis readiness, stakeholder engagement, and rapid response communications on EU legislative developments.
The Requirements:
Essential
- Five to seven years’ experience in communications, including EU policy communications; experience in health, life sciences, or medical technology is a plus.
- Degree in communications, journalism, political science, European studies, health policy, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of the EU policymaking environment, media/journalistic landscape, and policy communications.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with proven ability to translate technical and scientific content for different audiences and formats.
- Experience developing and executing content strategies for digital channels (newsletters, social media, web), ideally including event-related content production.
- Proven track record in media relations, particularly with EU and trade press. Experience supporting or coordinating content for large-scale events or conferences.
- Strong command of digital communication tools (CMS, social media platforms, newsletter/email tools) and working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Self-starter with excellent spoken and written English; additional EU languages are a plus.
- Strong team player, comfortable working cross-functionally with digital, event, and policy teams.
- Availability for occasional travel, including to flagship events.
Nice to have
- Experience with Adobe Suite, video concept development, or podcast production.
- Previous experience in crisis communications.
- Experience managing external agencies or freelancers for event or content production.
