CEMENT EUROPE – Cement Europe is offering an exciting opportunity for a legal professional to join its Public Affairs team as a Legal Advisor (Intern). The 6-month paid internship will include structured mentoring and may lead to a full-time Legal Advisor position subject to performance. The position will report to the Director of Public Affairs and Communications and work closely with the Public Affairs and Industrial Affairs teams and the Chief Executive.
With the publication of its Net Zero Roadmap and its recent Cement Action Plan, Europe’s cement industry is charting a bold course toward carbon neutrality by 2050 — with the potential to deliver carbon-negative emissions across the cement-concrete value chain. Achieving this ambition demands a robust enabling framework, including supportive regulation, targeted financing, and critical infrastructure. Cement Europe’s advocacy is focused on unlocking progress across a range of urgent policy files to support the sector’s climate and competitiveness goals.
Key tasks & responsibilities
- Analysing EU legislative and regulatory texts (Directives, Regulations, delegated and implementing acts) relevant to the cement sector
- Supporting the drafting of legal analyses, briefing notes, position papers and internal guidance documents
- Assisting with statutory and governance-related work of the Association
- Supporting public affairs and advocacy activities where legal expertise is required
Candidate profile:
- Strong interest in EU law and EU legislative processes
- Ability to analyse complex legal texts and identify sector-relevant issues
- Interest in climate, energy, environmental or industrial law
- Highly motivated to work in a Brussels-based European association
Essential skills:
- Excellent level of English (both spoken and written) – as all work is conducted in English;
- Strong analytical and legal drafting skills
- Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences
- Well-organised, reliable and detail-oriented
- Collaborative team player
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Law
- Recent graduates or early-career professionals are encouraged to apply
- Prior exposure to EU institutions, EU policy or public affairs (e.g. through internships or traineeships) is an advantage
- Knowledge or interest in climate and industrial policy is an asset
