Consultant – Energy (Space Sector)

With a growing portfolio of projects at the intersection of the space and energy sectors, Evenflow seeks a highly motivated professional to strengthen its Energy department. The role focuses on analytical and stakeholder-facing tasks (market and socio-economic studies, techno-economic analyses, user requirements collection and analysis, stakeholder engagement), and involves close interaction with decision-makers and practitioners across the energy sector.

The job The responsibilities of the new team member fall within our energy practice, delivered across a wide range of projects for clients such as ECMWF, ESA, EUSPA and the European Commission. They will include the following tasks.

• The engagement of energy-sector users of space and climate services (utilities, grid operators, renewable energy developers, policymakers), the documentation of their requirements and the translation of these requirements into concrete adoption and service-evolution plans.
• The execution of market analyses and socio-economic studies in the energy domain, including value chain analyses, competitive landscape mapping, benefit case studies and monitoring of current and future trends.
• The execution of techno-economic analyses and cost-benefit assessments of climate- and satellite-data-enabled energy applications (e.g. solar, wind, hydropower, grids).
• The development of use cases, catalogues and other content demonstrating the value of Copernicus and Earth Observation data for the energy sector (case studies, webinars, interactive storymaps).
• The organisation and facilitation of stakeholder workshops, webinars and user consultations across Europe and beyond.
• The drafting of reports, including strategic roadmaps, desk studies and action plans.
• Support to project coordination tasks (deliverable planning, partner input coordination, client interaction) for ongoing contracts.

In addition, and depending on her/his interests and abilities, the selected candidate may support business development activities (opportunity monitoring to end-to-end proposal management).

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate would be a versatile, multi-talented individual, strongly motivated to work for a small yet fast-growing SME. The key ingredients are a combination of strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking, good problem-solving/analytical capabilities, the ability to understand and communicate complex ideas effectively, and above all an entrepreneurial spirit coupled with a keen willingness to learn. Here are the specific traits we are looking for:

Essential

• At least 3 years of experience in analytical, consulting or technical roles, preferably with demonstrated experience in the energy sector, e.g. utilities, grid operators, renewable energy developers, energy market analysis, or energy/climate consulting for EU institutions, corporates and/or R&D activities (e.g. Horizon Europe).
• Strong academic background in engineering, business management, economics or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience engaging stakeholders (interviews, workshops, user consultations) and communicating complex ideas effectively to varied audiences.
• Solid experience in data collection and analysis, and synthesis of findings in high-quality reports.
• Strong ability to perform well in tight timeframes, coordinate inputs across partners in a collaborative environment and interact with clients.
• Ability to work well both independently and within larger teams.
• Excellent written and spoken English (C2 level).
• Intimate understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• EU work permit

Desirable

• Proven understanding of Copernicus services (in particular C3S and CAMS) and/or Earth Observation applications for the energy sector.
• Demonstrated experience of conducting strategy consulting for European institutions or agencies (e.g. ECMWF, ESA, EUSPA, European Commission).
• Hands-on expertise in techno-economic modelling, cost-benefit analysis or market sizing.
• Experience working in multi-partner consortia or coordinating contributions of partners and subcontractors.
• Professional command of additional EU languages (e.g. French, German, Italian, Spanish).
• Strong proposal-writing skills (especially for ESA or European funding schemes).
