SEMI Europe has an exciting opportunity for a young professional with a strong passion for European affairs and industrial policy. As a Junior Policy Coordinator you will be supporting the day-to-day advocacy activities of SEMI Europe in Brussels, working closely with our global advocacy team, the SEMI Europe marcom team in Berlin and member companies, supporting the development of position papers, advocacy campaigns as well as tracking, and reporting on industry-related legislative developments in the EU.

We collectively shape the future of the European technology industry in the field of semiconductors and microelectronics. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to an industry with an increasing strategic importance that will drive the green and digital transition in Europe.

This is an intern position that reports directly to the Manager of Public Policy and Advocacy in the SEMI Europe Brussels office.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the development of strategies and hands-on advocacy (including position papers, briefings, and policy recommendations) on high-value topics at the intersection of technology, industry, trade and circular economy policy
  • Delivering added value for SEMI members – with a focus on engaging industry in key policy issues with an impact on Europe’s microelectronics ecosystem
  • Supporting SEMI working groups to identify and address critical EU policies and strategic initiatives
  • Coordinating a steady policy dialogue with EU institutions and other key stakeholders to promote the interests of SEMI members and create a positive policy framework for the industry in Europe
  • Collaborating in outreach and SEMI strategic meetings in Brussels and at technology-focused events across Europe
  • Growing SEMI’s industry brand by identifying and reporting on strategic advocacy, technology and R&D collaboration opportunities and initiatives

What you will do:

You will be supporting the management of policy working groups and taskforces, and the drafting of position papers to represent SEMI Europe and its positions vis-a-vis the European institutions. You will be updating our members on the latest developments in Brussels, while specializing in EU tech and industrial policy as well as the geopolitics related to microelectronics and chip making.

Foundational Knowledge:

  • Relevant experience in EU policy, advocacy or EU institutions
  • University degree in the field of international relations, EU affairs, public policy, political science, communications, or similar
  • Available to work in Brussels
  • Experience in EU industrial policy, innovation and/or digital single market topics
  • Knowledge of European institutions and understanding of EU decision-making procedures
  • Strong ability to synthetize policy documents, identifying relevant points, facts and statistics to help explain complex topics to broad spectrum of audiences in a concise way
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English, while knowledge of other languages is an advantage
  • An established network in and around Brussels
  • Keen interest and willingness to work in a fast-paced and culturally diverse environment with competing priorities and workloads
