Eurhonet – the European Housing Network – is a network of 39 public and social housing providers committed to delivering excellent services. Our mission is to promote learning and development to better serve our tenants, neighbourhoods, and society. We collaborate, learn from each other, and develop new ideas together.

Eurhonet’s work centres around the needs of our tenants and the professional development of our employees. Eurhonet currently has members from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. We all have the same ambition: to improve our professional performance by sharing best practices, developing our skills, and creating a common view of excellence in the public and social housing sector.

To support the delivery of this ambition we are recruiting a full-time Communications and Outreach Coordinator as maternity cover for a period of one year. The successful candidate will report to Eurhonet’s Managing Director and will support our key aims of:

  • Promoting Eurhonet as a learning organisation;
  • Developing Eurhonet as a community; and
  • Building and maintaining partnerships.

About the position

You will lead on the day-to-day external communication of Eurhonet, taking ownership of the key messages to be transmitted across all public channels, including Eurhonet’s LinkedIn account, website, and public events.

You will have the opportunity to fulfil our communications activities for a variety of audiences, including a) European housing associations, b) the broader housing community and c) the wider public.

We expect you to work closely with our members to ensure they are informed about Eurhonet events, as well as support our Managing Director in the drive for new members.

Specifically, your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the implementation of our communications and outreach activities, ensuring all messaging aligns with our aims and ambitions;
  • Writing, producing and publishing communications in English, including our Annual Report, best practices, news articles, and presentations;
  • Managing the content and structure of the Eurhonet website (WordPress);
  • Producing content for and managing our LinkedIn account;
  • Producing content for e-newsletters (Mailchimp);
  • Supporting the organisation and delivery of online and in-person events;
  • Leading the communications work package for an EU-funded project (ERASMUS+), subject to project acceptance;
  • Managing the production of a printed booklet to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Eurhonet;
  • Producing marketing materials in line with Eurhonet’s visual identity; and
  • Assisting with the administrative tasks associated with the running of the network.

General requirements and skills

Overall, we are looking for a self-motivated communicator, with the confidence to work on their own initiative, and with excellent spoken and written English skills.

Ideally you will have:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role and in an international environment;
  • Experience in using WordPress, Mailchimp, and Canva;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal;
  • Experience in developing and executing social media engagement strategies;
  • Experience in engaging stakeholders, such as partner organisations and other external bodies;
  • Self-confidence and ability to pitch ideas;
  • Ability to work independently and assess when to engage the help of others; and
  • Excellent advisory skills and confidence giving advice and information to senior managers.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in social housing;
  • Higher university degree or equivalent qualifications in communications, journalism, marketing or public relations;
  • Experience working in EU-funded projects;
  • Experience as web editor and social media manager; and
  • Command of languages other than English (with a preference for French, Spanish and Italian).

What we offer

A gross annual salary between 48.000 € and 57.000 € based on a 38 hour working week, depending on qualifications and relevant experience. Other benefits include a commuting allowance, luncheon vouchers, holiday allowance.

A one-year contract (maternity cover) starting at the beginning of September 2025.

The Eurhonet office is located in Square de Meeûs 18, 1050, Brussels and is easily accessible by metro. The successful candidate is expected to work in the office for the majority of the time. Occasional teleworking days can be arranged.

Please also note that Eurhonet is established under Belgian law, and that employment is within the Belgian tax and social security system. The job requires being located in Belgium.
