The European Biogas Association (EBA) is the leading voice for sustainable biogases in Europe. With more than 390 members representing the entire value chain, EBA works to advance biogas and biomethane as key solutions for Europe energy transition and climate objectives.  

To support our continues growth and impact we are looking for an experienced and strategic Communications Director to lead EBA’s communications function on a full-time, permanent basis.  

As a member of EBA’s management team, reporting directly to the CEO, you play a central role in delivering EBA’s positioning and shaping its engagement with European institutions, media, industry stakeholders and wider audiences 

The role 

As Communications Director, you will define and drive EBA’s communications strategy ensuring that EBA can strengthen its organisational influence, reputation and visibility.  

Working closely with the CEO and fellow Directors, you will ensure that communications, stakeholder engagement and public positioning support EBA’s strategic objectives and reinforce its role as the leading voice of the European biogas and biomethane sector.  

You have a strong focus on digital communication, impactful campaigns and high-quality content. You will oversee EBA’s brand identity, corporate communications, media relations, events and communication activities within EU-funded projects. 

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on involvement, including media engagement, high-level events, public speaking and moderation. 

Your responsibilities 

Develop and implement EBA’s overall communication strategy in support of the organisations objectives and priorities  

Lead, coachand develop the Communications team, setting priorities, allocating responsibilities and supporting professional development and high-quality delivery. 

Serve as a strategic communications advisor to the CEO and Management Team on positioning, stakeholder engagement, reputation and emerging communications opportunities and risks. 

Manage the communications budget an oversee relationship withsuppliers and agencies  

Design and deliver communication campaigns that strengthen EBA’s visibility, positioning and engagement with key audiences. 

Oversee EBA’s brand identity and corporate communications, ensuring consistency across channels and outputs. 

Build and maintain strong relationships with media, members, EU institutions, policymakers and key stakeholders 

Oversee high-quality content production across EBA’s website, social media, newsletters, publications, campaigns and multimedia channels. 

Lead communication and promotion of EBA’s events, webinars, workshops and conferences, including high-level events and conferences of up to 1,000 participants. 

Represent EBA publicly, including speaking at conferences and workshops and moderating professional events and webinars. 

Coordinate communication and dissemination activities within Horizon Europe and other EU-funded projects, working with partners across Europe. 

Work closely with the Policy and Technical teams to ensure communications accurately reflect EBA’s expertise and priorities. 

Your profile 

• At least 8 years of professional communications experience, including significant experience in a European association, industry organisation, EU institution, consultancy or comparable international environment. 
• Proven experience in leading a communication function and managing teams.  
• Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field. Additional qualifications in European affairs, energy or sustainability are an asset. 
• Excellent understanding of the EU institutional and policy environment  
• Knowledge of the renewable energy sector is highly desirable. 
• Excellent written and verbal English. French is highly desirable; other European languages are an asset. 
• Demonstrated ability to translate organisational priorities and complex issues into clear, compelling and audience focused communications. 
• Strong media, stakeholder management and public speaking skills.  
• Strong digital communication expertise, including social media, websites, email marketing and other digital channels. 
• Proficiency in relevant communication and digital tools  
• Experience with Horizon Europe or other EU-funded projects is an asset. 
• Strategic, proactive and solutions-oriented, with strong leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills. 
• Ability to in a fast paced, multicultural and collaborative environment. 
• Eligible to work in the EU.
