Job description
CEMENT EUROPE is looking for a highly organised and curious Communications & Digital Officer to support our communications activities in Brussels.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys making things happen. You will work across social media, digital communications, website management, events and day-to-day communications delivery, while gradually building a strong understanding of the EU policy environment in which we operate.
You do not need to be a cement expert on day one. What matters is that you are interested in European policy, eager to learn, comfortable working with digital tools and able to manage several moving pieces without losing sight of detail.
You will work closely with the Communications Manager and colleagues across public affairs and industrial policy.
Key tasks & responsibilities
Communication and digital support
- Support the planning, drafting, publishing and scheduling of content across Cement Europe’s social media channels, particularly LinkedIn and Instagram
- Maintain the day-to-day social media calendar and ensure content is published accurately and on time
- Monitor performance and prepare regular reporting on reach, engagement, audience growth and other relevant KPIs
- Follow platform developments, emerging formats and digital trends that could strengthen our communications
- Support paid and organic campaigns where relevant
- Assist the team in managing website updates
- Help troubleshoot basic digital and technical issues and coordinate with external providers when needed
- Keep track of new communications technologies and propose useful tools or working methods
Content production
- Adapt communications materials for different channels and audiences
- Assist the team in creating visual assets using tools such as Canva
- Support the production and editing of presentations, graphics, videos and other multimedia content
- Maintain strict consistency with Cement Europe’s visual identity and communications standards
Events
- Support the organisation of Cement Europe events, webinars and stakeholder meetings
- Coordinate practical arrangements including registrations, invitations, speakers, venues, suppliers and event platforms
- Prepare event materials and support on-site delivery
- Help ensure that timelines, logistics and communications are coordinated effectively before, during and after events
- Monitor 3rd party events relevant to Cement Europe
EU policy
- Build an understanding of the main EU policy issues affecting Europe’s cement industry, including climate, energy, competitiveness, industrial policy and the circular economy
- Support stakeholder mapping across the European Commission, European Parliament, Council, Member States, industry associations, think tanks and other relevant organisations
- Help maintain and update stakeholder lists, institutional contacts and policy-monitoring tools
- Support the translation of complex policy topics into clear and accessible communications content
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure accuracy, consistency and timely follow-up on relevant developments
Candidate profile
- Exceptionally well organised, with a strong ability to manage deadlines, follow up on actions and keep track of multiple projects at the same time
- Reliable and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership
- Curious about EU policy and willing to develop a solid understanding of the regulatory environment affecting European industry.
- Comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask questions
- Digitally confident and quick to learn new platforms and tools
- Able to work in a fast-moving European public affairs environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across different teams
- Motivated to work in a Brussels-based European association representing a strategic industrial sector
Essential skills
- Excellent level of English, both spoken and written, as all work is conducted in English. Knowledge of another EU language would be an asset.
- Strong understanding of social media, particularly LinkedIn, including content planning, publishing and performance measurement
- Experience with social media analytics and KPI tracking, with the ability to interpret results and suggest improvements
- Ability to write clear, accurate and engaging content for different channels and audiences
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communications, Political Science, European Studies, International Relations, Journalism, Public Relations or a related disciplin
- Early-career professionals are encouraged to apply
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with CMS platforms, CRM platforms such as HubSpot would be an asset.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe or similar design tools would be an advantage.
- Previous experience with event organisation would be an asset.
- Knowledge of the EU institutions and Brussels policy environment would be an advantage.
