In September 2023, the ERS published a statement highlighting the major threats climate change poses to respiratory health and emphasised the need to prioiritise health in mitigation strategies and air pollution policies. This year, this work is taken a step further with the publication of the Natural Disaster and Respiratory Health series in the European Respiratory Journal and the creation of the ERS led Stakeholder Network on Climate Change and Health on the DG SANTE Health Policy Platform. ERS aims to use these initiatives to develop concrete policy recommendations addressing the growing impact of climate change on respiratory health.
