Overall Function
We are hiring a Policy Analyst, EU Methane to support and coordinate our advocacy efforts on methane policy in Europe and help advance ambitious EU action on methane emissions. We are looking for candidate with a strong interest in the EU climate and energy policy and motivated to contribute to impact-driven solutions that address methane as a critical part of the broader climate challenge.
Environmental Defense Fund is at the forefront of acting on one of the climate issues that can still be solved in our lifespan - reducing energy methane emissions. Methane from human activities accounts for roughly a quarter of today’s warming and cutting methane in the oil and gas sector offers one of the fastest, cheapest, and most effective ways to slow global warming. The EU is particularly instrumental in this effort, thanks to its EU Methane Regulation, the first binding legislation with the potential to make a real dent in this planetary issue. In the EU, EDF Europe works with partners to put forward pragmatic, science-based solutions that will meet Europe’s energy needs while reducing methane emissions.
This role will report to the Senior Manager, EU Energy Transition based in Brussels, and will liaise closely with colleagues in Europe, the United States and in other overseas offices.
As a Policy Analyst, EU Methane you will help develop, carry out and coordinate advocacy and outreach activities to achieve strong policy outcomes. You will monitor and analyze EU methane policy developments and look for opportunities where our expertise can add value to the debate and policy considerations in Europe, keeping internal colleagues up to date with the information they need to develop their engagement. Your analysis will contribute to EDF Europe being consistently included in discussions with European policy makers, NGOs, academics and industry.
