Bioenergy Europe is recruiting a Policy Officer to support its Advocacy department.
Bioenergy Europe is a non-profit, international organisation based in Brussels, which operates at the EU level and was founded in 1990. Bioenergy Europe primarily aims to expand the market for sustainable bioenergy and to guarantee favourable conditions for its members. Tasks:
The officer will be responsible for the Working Group Competitiveness and the Working Group Carbon Dioxide Removals, which deal with corporate sourcing and the industrial use of bioenergy and biogenic CO2. Under the supervision of the Policy Director, the selected candidate will work on key competitiveness files, including the Carbon Removals Certification Framework, State Aid, the EU ETS, and the Energy Taxation Directive.
The officer’s duties involve:
- Development of Bioenergy Europe’s political positions on competitiveness and other topics.
- Integration and establishment of a network with EU institutions and stakeholders.
- Definition and implementation of advocacy strategies to promote Bioenergy Europe’s positions through interaction with EU decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Ensuring an external representation of the positions of Bioenergy Europe in workshops and conferences through active participation and lectures.
Competencies and skills:
- Completed a degree in EU law / political science / environmental science, or similar degrees.
- Knowledge of EU institutions and political processes.
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Familiarity with EU climate and energy challenges (experience on Fit for 55 and understanding of EU ETS preferred).
- Team player, self-starter, positive work attitude, sociability, and reliability.
- Excellent knowledge of English; other EU languages are an asset.
- Previous experience in EU institutions and/or EU trade associations is an advantage.
