Government Affairs Consultant/ Lawyer in Brussels
Who we are
SAMMAN Law & Corporate Affairs is part of the small circle of law firms specialized in public policy and government affairs at the French and European Union (EU) levels.
We are a leading French government affairs specialist in Tech policy (AI, cloud, deeptech, online services, etc.). However, our practice extends beyond to cover the financial, mobility, energy and health sectors.
We assist our clients in:
- Understanding and managing the legal, political and institutional dimensions of their sector of activity;
- Setting up strategies of Public/Private dialogue and optimizing the regulatory environment;
- Handling legal organizational issues.
Our firm has two offices, in Paris and in Brussels, whose teams are working in close cooperation to deliver successful government affairs strategies.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a curious, driven EU policy specialist to join our Brussels office as either a Lawyer or Government Affairs Consultant.
Expertise in Tech policy or consultancy experience is an asset, but not a requirement—if you bring other strengths, we want to hear from you.
What you will do
- Contribute to the design and execution of government affairs strategies for private and public sector clients, working collaboratively with their internal teams (Government Affairs, Legal Affairs, Marketing/ Comms, etc.);
- Monitor relevant EU-level institutional, policy and regulatory developments, assess their impact on a client’s reputation and operations and deliver high-quality analyses and insights;
- Draft relevant written materials on EU policy and regulatory issues tailored to different stakeholders;
- Help build and maintain a trusted relationship between clients and relevant stakeholders (EU institutions, trade associations).
What you’ll need
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in EU affairs;
- Strong knowledge of EU institutions and its decision-making processes, gained by working with policy makers and regulatory bodies at national and/or EU levels;
- Good understanding of digital policies or ability to understand them quickly;
- Ability to write and translate complex issues suitable for either technical or non-technical audiences and to communicate effectively in person and in writing;
- Hands-on experience in project/ advocacy campaigns coordination;
- Be a team player;
- Excellent command of English and good knowledge of French.
