We are looking for a Press and Communication Assistant to strengthen our European Press Unit within the Press Directorate.
This team is responsible for developing, supervising, and coordinating the Group’s communication strategy at European level. In this role, you will support our press advisers in drafting media lines, preparing communication materials, monitoring political debates and media coverage, and ensuring that the EPP Group’s messages are effectively delivered in a multilingual and dynamic environment.

About the EPP Group
The Group of the European People’s Party (EPP Group) is the largest and oldest group in the European Parliament. Department
The Press Directorate ensures the dissemination to the media and the general public of the political priorities of the EPP Group using the most advanced communication techniques.
The Directorate includes a team of press officers and press assistants able to communicate in 24 official EU languages. They are divided in two units, European Press and National press. The European press unit organises the EPP Group communication strategy regarding all the parliamentary activities, while the National press unit handles the media relations with the media of the different Member States.
Among others, the Directorate provides regular “media lines” for the use of MEPs if they face interviews with journalists on the most important parliamentary activities, monitor on a weekly basis the national political situation in the Member States and the activities of the other political groups.
Job description
As part of the EPP Group’s Press Directorate (European Press Unit), the Press and Communication Assistant will support the Group’s communication activities and help ensure the effective dissemination of its political priorities.
The Press and Communication Assistant fulfils a supranational function within the EPP Group Secretariat and carries out, the following functions and duties:
- Assist with the coordination of the EPP Group’s communication planning process.
- Draft, edit, and proofread press releases, newsletters, media lines, social media content and other communication materials.
- Monitor European and national media coverage as well as political developments relevant to the Group’s work.
- Contribute to internal newsletters and media monitoring reports on Member States and other political groups.
- Support the revision and quality control of the Press Directorate’s publications.
- Assist in the organisation and follow-up of meetings with journalists and other external interlocutors.
- Help with the distribution of Group promotional material to Members of the European Parliament.
- Provide assistance to the Head of Unit and the Director when required.
- Carry out any other communication or coordination tasks necessary for the smooth running of the Group.

The role requires strong drafting and editing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to summarise complex information into clear messages. Candidates should be able to work independently while collaborating closely within a multicultural team. Flexibility, good judgement, organisational talent, and the ability to manage tasks under pressure are essential.
Excellent communication skills, discretion, and a supportive working style are expected. Proficiency in English is required, and a good knowledge of other EU languages will be considered an asset. Familiarity with EU institutions, the European Parliament’s work, and communication or media tools will be highly valued.
The post involves frequent travel, notably to Strasbourg for plenary sessions, as well as occasional external meetings.
Job requirements
Candidates must have:
- a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma in communication, journalism, or a related field OR a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years;
- at least 1 year relevant professional experience;
- excellent command of English (native-level or advanced proficiency); knowledge of other EU language(s) is an asset;
- ability to summarise and distil key insights from complex political and media information;
- good organisational skills and ability to manage tasks under time pressure;
- collaborative and supportive working style, with a strong sense of discretion and confidentiality.
Salary & benefits
Successful candidate may be offered a contract agent position (FG III) for a duration of one year, renewable, in line with the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the EU (CEOS).
In addition to the basic salary (from €3.374,39 to €5.529,90 depending on length of experience), you will benefit from:

- be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union;
- enjoy their full rights as a citizen (have no criminal record);
- have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service;
- meet the character requirements for the duties involved.
