Job Description
European Aluminium is looking for a new assistant to join its Public Affairs and Communications team. The position is under the responsibility of the Senior Manager Public Affairs.
Main tasks and duties
- Provide regular political intelligence through monitoring of relevant information sources (media, EU websites, social media) on key files
- Support the team in their advocacy activities (briefings, setting up meetings, etc.)
- Draft policy notes on new EU initiatives and relevant policy issues
- Support in organising internal and external meetings
- Support in preparing presentations
- Supporting in the organisation of policy events
- Participate in internal and external meetings and draft minutes
- Responsible for the internal newsletters
- Support communication activities (e.g. prepare content for social media channels, updating the website, etc.)
Knowledge, experience, interests and skills
- Background in EU Affairs/International relations or similar
- Strong knowledge of EU policy and decision-making process
- Excellent oral, writing and communication skills in English
- Willingness and ability to work on a range of different issues
- Self-starter and able to work independently, organised and with great attention to details and ability to keep deadlines
- Knowledge of how to find information quickly and efficiently. Familiar with the EU document registers, media and monitoring sites
- Previous experience in EU institutions/ consultancy / associations is a plus
- Good computer literacy knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Experience in updating social media profiles (LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube) and websites. Mailchimp, WordPress and Canva experience is a plus
