This full- or part-time position based in Brussels will help to ensure that European private finance policies and regulations support a resilient, fair and inclusive climate transition by 2050.​ E3G is open to offering this position to the right candidate on either an employee (Policy Advisor) or a consultancy (Associate) basis.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Tracking EU financial policy and regulatory developments in the context of private sector finance, and interpreting them in the context of the EU’s sustainable finance agenda and E3G’s mission and goals
  • Building and maintaining a network of public and private sector stakeholders who are engaged in the process of creating new European private finance regulations
  • Supporting the co-ordination of a network of European civil society organisations active in greening the EU finance regulation landscape.
  • Organising, convening and chairing regular discussions and learning sessions about EU private finance topics in relation to climate change and sustainability
  • Supporting the broader E3G team in delivering ambitious outcomes on the EU sustainable finance strategy and EU Green Deal
  • Producing internal and external communications materials and undertaking short pieces of wider analysis. 

Experience and Skills  

The successful candidate will:  

  • A good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (required) and post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline (desirable)
  • At least 5 years work experience, working on finance-related topics
  • In-depth knowledge of EU financial regulatory space, including the work of DG FISMA and the European Supervisory Authorities, combined with a strong network of existing contacts gained through direct work in this field
  • A good understanding of the EU legislative processes
  • A high level of initiative and be positive, organised, stress-resilient and able to deliver high quality work on time 
  • A track record of problem solving and research including quantitative analysis, an ability to quickly familiarise yourself with a new topic through self-led research including conversations with experts, assessing legislation or policy statements, and analysis of data sources
  • Attention to detail combined with the ability to work effectively to support shared team outcomes
  • Very strong English written and verbal communication skills. A good working knowledge of at least one major language besides English would be an advantage.

E3G is open to different flexible working options for this role, which is offered on a 1-year contract (for an employee) or through a consultancy arrangement. 

For direct employment on a full-time basis the expected salary range will be between €44,500 and €51,000 per annum. 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a right to work in Brussels.
