EURACTIV is the leading EU policy media present in 13 European countries. It publishes EU news free of charge and facilitates debates for EU policy professionals in 13 languages. With 2.3 million page views and 783.986 unique visitors per month, EURACTIV is a leading online media on EU affairs. The group gathers approximately 100 people around Brussels and its network of national affiliates. It has four main sources of income: sponsorship, communication package memberships, advertising and public contracts.

To strengthen our editorial team in Berlin we are currently recruiting an additional journalist: a Journalist to cover Digitalisation

EURACTIV is looking for an experienced correspondent with a keen interest in Digitalisation, German & EU politics and policies. The successful candidates will be expected to deliver both news stories as well as in-depth feature articles focusing on Germany’s developments related to the EU. The correspondents should be confident in linking with top level politicians, business leaders and influencers, and willing to moderate high-level conferences.

Main responsibilities:

  • Write breaking news stories, interviews, as well as in-depth and background articles for a specialised audience
  • Write in-depth policy briefings and special reports to deadline
  • Conduct interviews with high-level officials, including German politicians, MEPs, business leaders and policy experts
  • Moderate events, both face-to-face and online
  • Identify topics for interactive debates
  • Contribute to meeting EURACTIV’s editorial mission and commitment to balanced reporting

Profile:

  • German native speaker and strong English-language writing skills with journalistic portfolio
  • Deep knowledge of German politics and EU policies, knowledge of Digitalisation is an asset.
  • At least two years of experience in journalism and/or EU affairs
  • University degree in journalism and/or political science
  • Ability to deliver accurate stories in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think quickly and provide insights and perspective on reports coming from a wide variety of sources, including EU institutions, business associations and civil society;
  • Hard-working, able to respect tight deadlines, entrepreneurial, team-player
  • Online publishing, mobile publishing, social media, and information management experience.
  • Other European languages, as well as interest in producing multi-media content, are an asset
  • Interested in working as an independent contractor
